Nowadays, different countries around the world experiences different

environmental problems and challenges. These are due to improper and unsustainable

environmental practices that increase the threats to the Earth's climate, water, forests,

biodiversity, food and energy supply, and thus to the foundations of human existence

and well-being. There are countries that over-exploit or over-use our world’s limited

natural resources that affects the developing countries and small nations. There are

different organization(government or non-government) that are made to protect our

natural environment and to fight those who tries to break rules and abuses our limited

resources, just like World Nature Organization, the International Union for Conservation

of Nature, the Global Environment Facility, the Earth System Governance Project, etc..

Philippines is one of the fastest developing countries in Southeast Asia. It

continues to improve and grow to be a modern and a sustainable country for its people.

Due to its modernization, Philippines now struggles with different environmental

problems. Ineffective management seriously degrades the country’s significant

biodiversity resources. There have been water and air pollution not only on highly

urbanized areas but also to different places here in the Philippines that are unhealthy for

humans. Greenhouse gas emissions are increasing from the transport and power

sectors. The country is ranked as one of the world’s most vulnerable to the impacts of

environmental disasters. There are plenty of natural resources in the Philippines that

play a critical role in the economy as in agriculture, fisheries, and forestry. Improper

management of its raw materials may result to the insufficiency or scarcity of resources

in the Philippines.
 In my community, there are rules and regulations that are implemented to protect

and care for our environment and surroundings because there are some people that

don’t have discipline. They throw away their garbages anywhere and litter. I observed

that their waste disposal is improper and not match to the ordinance of the city. Different

garbage are mixed together and garbage collectors collects it without even looking if it is

segregated. This improper segregation can also results into an environmental problem.

In our home, our electricity bill highly increase compared before because of improper

management of appliances in turning it on/off. We also used many appliances at the

same time that consumes lots of electricity. Wasting electricity is just like wasting our

natural resources, so we should start changing now.

The importance of this environmental action plans is of great help and will have

an impact in decreasing the risk of different environmental problems in our community

even though it is just a small scale of work or project.
