D. Classroom Management
D.1. Records are kept of students’ daily attendance
The welfare of the student is an essential concern of every faculty

member. Hence attendance of students is regularly checked and
recorded.
D.2. Regular class attendance is further encouraged

Stipulated in the Handbook is the policy on attendance. Students

are informed that they have to attend class punctually and
regularly.
D.3. The College enforces its rules concerning class

attendance
Indicated in the Faculty Manual, the faculty can make more

effective and fruitful by checking attendance in his class
every school day and recording a student’s absence.
It is also indicated in the Student Handbook that students are

required to attend class punctually and regularly.
D.4. In science laboratory work, there is one laboratory

assistant for every 20 students
D.5. In purely lecture classes, the number of students is

appropriate to the size and acoustics of the rooms and
its facilities.
Classroom are well-lighted and air conditioned making the room

conductive for learning. Lecture rooms have whiteboards,
teacher’s desk and ample number of student chairs. The
size acoustic and facilities of the classroom are appropriate
to the number of students per class.
D.6. Proper classroom discipline is maintained in

consonance with sound and democratic practices.
D.7. In classes during discussion and other interactive

methods of teaching, the number of students does not
exceed fifty (50)
The FEU Faculty Manual (Article III, section 4-d and j) that as a
general rule, classes should exceed fifty (50).
D.8. Independent work and performance is encouraged and

monitored.
The subject, Practicum in International Studies, provides

International Studies students with off campus apprenticeship in
the office setting. Individual performance is monitored by the
practicum supervisor of the apprenticeship.
E. Academic Performance of Students
E.1. Variety tools and instruments are used such as:

E.2. Evaluation tools/instrument are reliable.
The evaluation tool more objective method of scoring; specific

criteria are identified and the students are evaluated only on
those criteria. Students can often be involved in the creation of a
rubric and other test measurement in order to have a say in what
they believe to be the most important aspects of a given class
activity; this can help with student motivation and investment.
Students are oriented on how they are graded. The course syllabi and
student handbook include the computation of class standing and
final grade. This ensures fairness is maintained and helps the
students to become aware of what is being assessed.
E.3. Instructors personally rate the examinations and other

requirements submitted by students.
Faculty members personally check the examination if the students

and other requirements. Comments and rubric are indicated in
the written output and examination of the students.
E.4. The system of evaluation and grading is clearly defined

and understood by:

arrangements whenever teachers are absent.
Substitution mechanisms are made in order that the classes are

not affected by the absence of the teacher. The Department
assigns faculty members to take charge of the class when the
teacher is not found. To ensure that classes are maintained and
met, new procedures and suggestions are continually explored.
