education, research, and industry. Most faculty hold Ph.D. degrees. All faculty members are
members of at least one professional society related to engineering. See Table 6.A.1 and the
faculty resumes in Appendix B for more information on faculty qualifications.

B. Faculty Workload
The most recent workload for faculty who teach major courses in Industrial Engineering is
given in Table 6.B.1

C. Faculty Size
The faculty consists of sixteen Non-tenure-track, and eight tenured track faculty members,
which is large enough to provide instruction and guidance for all students in all areas of
electrical engineering. The faculty and their areas of expertise are listed in Table 6. C.1.

All faculty members have extensive research publications in their areas of expertise and have
considerable industry experience. Many of the faculty members are involved in professional
activities with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and other related
organizations and industry conferences around the world.

D. Professional Development
Faculty members utilize the wide range of opportunities offered by Jouf University for
professional development. The university provides funds to support scientific research by
faculty through a variety of research grant schemes managed by the Deanship for Scientific
Research (DSR). During the academic year 2018/19, EE faculty secured 4 research grants
with a total value of SR 113,000. Other support is available for book writing and translation.
The faculty is also encouraged to go abroad(USA,UK,AUS) for higher studies and the
University facilitates them by granting study leaves and retaining them on return.

Faculty members are motivated to excel through a promotion scheme that takes into account
performance in teaching, research, and services. The university faculty promotion guidelines
follow international standards in the education profession. Moreover, a number of university
awards exist for outstanding faculty performance.
