EnGenius Checklist for students

Academic poster This is an assessment requirement so you must have a poster

PLEASE NOTE: For individuals displaying on poster stands at


EnGenius A0 posters will need to be in portrait layout NOT
landscape. If you wish to design in landscape please make sure
you only print A1.

For teams displaying in a booth you can have an A0 poster in


landscape layout.
All files for presentation MCEC has a free WiFi service that will be available. However, due
are saved locally to your to the scale of the event, we advise not relying on this service.
laptop
Make sure any presentation materials, videos etc are saved
locally to your laptop and can be accessed offline. This will help
ease any potential congestion on the WiFi and prevent stress at
the event!
Testing & tagging If you have a POWERED PROTOTYPE that you wish to operate at
complete EnGenius it must be tested and tagged.

If you are bringing any other electrical equipment that is not a


prototype (laptop, display monitor, power board, extension
leads, phone chargers etc) to assist with your EnGenius
display, these also need to be tested and tagged.
Risk assessments In order to be allowed to bring your prototype and/or laptop to
complete the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre you need to:

1. Complete the activity and equipment risk assessment


forms
2. Have them signed off by your Academic supervisor
3. Email the signed copy to OENG1168@rmit.edu.au ASAP
Professional attire There will be Industry judges assessing your projects for prizes
and Industry sponsors are also in attendance.

Part of your assessment is based on your professionalism –


appearance is part of this.

It is of key importance that you look the part to make a good


impression!
Large / medium Any student that can't physically carry their prototype will have
prototype delivery time to deliver it to Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre
arranged on Tuesday 16th of October before the event. This is due to the
MCEC's policy of not allowing trolleys through the front
entrance. Due to the large number of medium/large prototypes
there are now set delivery times for the Tuesday.

Students who indicated they had a large/medium prototype


have been contacted about this – if this applies to you and you
HAVE NOT been contacted please email
OENG1168@rmit.edu.au ASAP to request these details.
Prototype labelled ALL prototypes coming to EnGenius need to be labelled.

You can pick up the prototype labels from the following


locations:
• City Campus - Bldg 10, Level 9 SEH Academic Services
Centre 9am - 5pm Monday - Friday
• Bundoora East Campus - Bldg 251, Level 3, Room 42
between 10am - 12pm and 2pm - 4pm Monday – Friday
Industry project release ONLY for students presenting an Industry project
forms
You must confirm with your Capstone Project industry mentor
that you have permission to present your project by providing
them with the draft presentation material you will be
showcasing at EnGenius, and having them complete
the EnGenius Industry Capstone Project Release Form
Laptop fully charged If you do not intend to plug your laptop in on the day make sure
it is fully charged before arrival.

There will only be minimal charging points available on the day.


Lunch, snacks and There are food outlets about a 5 – 10 minute walk away from the
refillable water bottle Exhibition Hall, it is recommended you bring your own lunch and
snacks.

There are water fountains available at MCEC so bring a water


bottle you can refill.

Although there is a lunch break from 12 – 1 you should still try to


make sure someone remains with your project at all times.
Bump in For prototypes that you can carry in by hand your bump in time
will be from 6am -9am on Wednesday 17th October (the day of
the event).
Bump out You will have from 4:00pm -5:30pm on Wednesday 17th October
to remove everything from your presentation area.

Anything left over will be considered waste and


discarded.

If you have a medium to large prototype you will have until 8pm
on Wednesday 17th October to have this picked up.
More useful information

• We are providing ONE event lanyard per student. There will be the correct amount
of lanyards on the trestle tables in the booths and next to the poster boards. Take
one only.

• Table cloths for the tables in your booths are not provided, if you would like one you
need to bring your own.

• You are expected to be at your project from 10am - 4pm. When you take your lunch,
please try to make sure that someone is at your project at all times.

• Please take into consideration travel time when planning your day.

• If you have any questions on the day there will be tech support and RMIT staff on
hand to assist!
