Topic for Network Analysis: Green Crackers

1.Summary of Steps Performed

Step 1- Import the Data set from Twitter Search Network using word “Greencrackers”. We
received 676 number of data sets.

Step 2- In Edge Sheet and relationship column the data is selected for mention and Replies to or
removed the tweet from relationship.

Step 3- Print graph of Original data- The graph is in Annexure-1 and graph is of type Harel-
Koren Fast Multiscale

Step 4- Group by cluster- Group by cluster and selected Clauset-newman-Moore

The figure is available in Annexure-2

Step 5 Separate each group

Go to layout- then layout option and select layout each of the graph’s group in its own box

Step 6- Calculate Graph metrices based on In-Degree, out-Degree and overall- This explains the
details of the graph

The metrices are attached in Annexure-4

Step 6- Arrange by In-degree from largest to smallest

Step 7 Labelling the top 19 users ( or till In-degree value 8) with image and names based on the
In-degree- Paste 11 in shape column for getting images of top 19 users as 11 is code for getting
image, then Copy names of top 15 users and paste in label column. Then in “group options”
choose “The shapes specified in the shape column on the vertices worksheet. Details in Figure -

Step 8 Layout the entire graph or resolves the group to single graph for this go to Layout options
and choose layout graph in entire graph pane. Details in figure- Final view

Step 9 Choose Autofill columns for choosing various option like for changing vertex color,
vertex shape and vertex size according to In-degree from large to small and for displaying
relationship in edge label

2. Visual Representation and Inference Drawn

As the first graph shows the graph that is clustered by groups and the top 19 users based on the
highest In-degree. The Cluster that are outlined by red color have highest numbers of users with
High In-degree or more of influencers from which information passes to a greater number of
people. As the cluster have some common access so government or the manufacturer can target
these groups through social media like re-tweeting them for spreading the information for green
crackers to more numbers of peoples. Based on the sentiment analysis we can find the nature of
information passed by these groups and tackle them.

If we want view the graph as a whole or not on cluster basis we can see the graph on the next
graph and data for the graph is present in annexure 5 which describes the details of top 19 users

based on In-degree in descending order like followers and people whom they follow and the
favorites regarding the topic Green crackers. The Table provides the description of the users,
which can be used as the authentication level of each users.

As this graph show that the CSIR_neeri and CSIR_Ind have highest number of indegree that is
information is spread by them to more number of people and both are high credibility also as
they both are firms under the control of Indian Government ( Details in Annexure-5 table- 1). So,
people will believe them more than other sources. As these are government firms so the
information spread will most probably the positive information. Like CSIR-IND has tweeted
“The government has launched environment-friendly firecrackers called #GreenCrackers” also
tagging CNBCTV18 news channel so that more people get connected with Green Crackers
campaign. Similarly, other credible resources that have high In-degree such as The-Hindu, Times
NOW, Official twitter handle of Karnataka state CM which has large numbers of followers can
be contacted by Government as well as manufacturer of Green crackers to promote it more to
people.
