Knowledge of labor and employment law and standards is indispensable for the HR
professional. Now more than ever, HR practitioners are compelled to implement
stringent labor standards, which is beneficial for both employees and organizations.
Labor standards provide predictable, sound structure to the workplace; clearly spell out
accountabilities; and give clear direction and strategy for settling disputes. The HR
practitioner who is constantly updated of the changes in labor standards is able to give
more value to his role as an HR practitioner – rather than being in firefighting mode, he
is able to dedicate more time to profitability and productivity.
The 7th Labor Relations Summit intends to raise awareness of employers’ obligations to
its employees. The significance of learning these updates must be emphasized, as they
provide a framework on how companies may build sound LR practices throughout the
entire employee life cycle. The most timely and relevant topics are featured in the
conference, including the IRR of the new OSH Law; ensuring adequate preparation for
a DOLE inspection; avoidance of “endo” or illegal contracting; among several others.
Moreover, the conference is an opportune time to meet fellow HR practitioners, and
interact with subject matters experts in Labor Relations.
