11 MAJOR PARTS OF A BOOK

1. TITLE PAGE- it gives the complete title of the book, the

author/authors and the name of the publisher.
2. COPYRIGHT PAGE- it gives guarantees ownership and
protection in publishing the book. It gives the date and place of
publication.
3. PREFACE- ir gives the authors purpose in writing the book, its
organization and its method of presentation. This part is sometimes
called the foreword or the introduction.
4. TABLE OF CONTENTS- it present the main topics discussed in
the book along with the pages where they begin. The topics,
divided into chapters or units, are listed chronologically or in the
order of their appearance in the book.
5. TEXT OR BODY OF THE BOOK- this is the main part of the
book.
6. GLOSSARY- it is a little dictionary, it helps the readers in
understanding some terms used in the book.
7. INDEX- it is detailed alphabetical listing of ideas or topics
contained in the book, together with the pages where they are
found.
8. BIBLIOGRAPHY- it lists in alphabetical order the references
used by the author in writing the book.
9. DEDICATION PAGE- it tells to whom the author dedicate the
book.
10. ACKNOWLEDGEMENT- it expresses the author’s
gratitude to the person who in one way or the other helped him or
her in writing the book.
11. APPENDIX- it contains added information to the books. Not
all books, however have this part.
