Academic Year 2019-20

Course: Power Systems II Course Code: R1631021
Year: III Semester: I Section:B
Name of the Faculty: B Raghavendra Designation: Asst. Prof.
Name of the Program: B.Tech. in EEE

This assignment corresponds to Unit No. I Date of Submission:-15/07/2019

1. The three conductors of a 3-phase transmission line are arranged in a horizontal plane
and are 5 meters apart. The diameter of each conductor is 30mm.Determine the
inductance per km of each conductor (line to neutral). Assume balanced load and R,
Y, B phase sequence. Determine also the average inductance per phase for regularly
transposed line. [BT L3][ CO1]
2. Calculate the inductance per phase per meter for a three-phase double-circuit line
whose phase conductors have a radius of 5·3 cm with the horizontal conductor
arrangement as shown in Fig. [BT L3][ CO1]

3. Calculate the capacitance per phase of a three phase, three wire system by
considering earth effect, when the conductors are arranged in a horizontal plane with
spacing D12=D23=3.5m, and D31=7m. The conductors are transposed and each has a
diameter of 2.0 cm. Assume the transmission line is 4m above the ground level.
[BT L3][CO1]
4. Calculate the capacitance per phase of a three-phase double circuit line as shown in
below Figure. The diameter of the conductor is 2.2 cm. Assume that the line is
completely transposed [BT L3][CO1]
