COURSE SYLLABUS
GRADE 8 SCIENCE
Course description
In accordance to K to 12 curriculum science for grade 8 aims to prepare students as a globally competitive
individual that corresponds to the needs of this fast phasing world. Each student is encouraged to utilize scientific
knowledge, science skills, values and attitudes to scientifically resolve or respond to the changes. And to improve the
quality of life.
General objectives
Explain the behavior of matter in term of particles it is made of. They recognize that ingredients in food and
medical products are made up of these particles and are absorbed by the body in forms of ions.
Differentiate the models of atom according to different scientists
Learners recognize reproduction as a process of cell division resulting in growth of organism.
Develop a deeper understanding on the process of digestion, giving emphasis on proper nutrition for overall
wellness.
Describe the factors that affect the motion of an object based on the laws of motion
Differentiate the concept of work as used in science and in layman’s language.
Understand that there are different factors that affect the transfer of energy, such as temperature difference
and type of medium.
Recognize other members of the solar system.
