Vocational Competence in Healthcare

Final assessment information – Group 1

Introduction

Each participant will be asked to complete an individual presentation on either Monday


September 9 or Tuesday September 10 (eight participant to present on Monday and seven
on Tuesday). Each presentation should take between 20 – 30 minutes.

If English language is an issue, affected individuals can ask another in the group to translate
for them.

It is preferable to have a powerpoint or other visual aids.

Refer to the guidelines below for content required in the presentation.

Guidelines

 Provide an overview of your qualifications and current work position. If you are not
teaching please provide your teaching experience.
 Assume you are now a vocational education teacher –
 What will be your delivery style?
 What methods will you use ie role plays, group discussions?
 How will you approach assessment for students?
 Discuss your delivery and assessment for the one unit as per the instructions
below
 Take three comments from your reflective journal and discuss them
 List and discuss the three most important things you are taking away from
this program
 What did you learn about Melbourne?
 Summary

MAJOR ASSESSMENT

Each participant will be required to –


o Develop a learning program suitable for one unit of competency for your area
of expertise from the relevant Australian Training package. This should
include –
 Learning and Assessment Overview (include all sessions)
 Detailed session Plan for one session only
 List of resources
o For the unit of competency above develop the following documents –
 Assessment Plan
 Two Assessments instruments (ie questions, observation checklist)
 Marking guides and teacher instructions
 Mapping document
o Present the above for 20 - 30 minutes in the final week to fellow participants
and selected Kangan Institute staff.
