- Much more sharing of roles with the left and right hand in the melody.
- Piano plays melody as well, takes over.
- Rhythm was very prominent in Brahms
- More independence of melody and accompaniment.
- More ‘leaps’ used in melody.
- Overlapping pitches.
- Harmonies become ‘more complex’
