1. Describe a cockpit.

2. Explain the principle behind the working of a plasma panel.

3. What is meant by DVI?
4. What is HMD?
5. What are the advantages of night vision goggles?
The ability to see in near-total darkness.
Possessing better vision than the enemy, thus putting him at a
disadvantage.
Increased mobility as a result of improved vision.

6. Differentiate between LED and LCD display.

7. State the working principle of DME.
8. Differentiate stable and strap down INS?
In a strapdown inertial navigation system the accelerometers are rigidly mounted
parallel to the body axes of the vehicle. In this application the gyroscopes do not
provide a stable platform; they are instead used to sense the turning rates of the
craft.
9. What are the various phases of BLEU automatic landing system?
Blind Landing Experimental Unit
Automatic approach phase (track)
Automatic approach phase (glide)
Automatic land phase (leader cable)
Automatic land (attitude)
Automatic land (flare)
Automatic land (kicking off drift)
Manual ground run
10. Explain the methods used in navigation by pilotage.
11. Write the principle of INS
Newtons 1st law of motion
12. Differentiate ILS and MLS.
13. What is meant by hyperbolic navigation system?
14. What is anti spoofing in gps?
A GPS spoofing attack attempts to “deceive” a GPS receiver by
broadcasting counterfeit GPS signals, structured to resemble a set of
normal GPS signals, or by rebroadcasting genuine signals captured
elsewhere or at a different time. These spoofed signals may be modified
in such a way as to cause the receiver to estimate its position to be
somewhere other than where it actually is, or to be located where it is
but at a different time, as determined by the attacker.
15. What are the various categories of navigation systems?
16. Explain Terrain Reference Navigation (TRN) systems?
This is a navigation method in which the current position of the aircraft
is determined by means of a section of the terrain profile of the
respectively overflown area, the route , using a digital terrain
model and made available for navigation.
17. How are gyroscopes used in navigation?
18. What is GPS modernization?
19. Define ILS? What is the disadvantage of an ILS system?
20. Define Time Of Flight.
Time of flight (ToF) is the measurement of the time taken by an object, particle
or wave (be it acoustic, electromagnetic, etc.) to travel a distance through a
medium.
21. Write a short note on the Decca navigation system.
22. Explain the principle of a Vertical Speed Indicator.
23. Define true air speed.
24. How are air data systems used in an aircraft? List out the required parameters for flying.
25. What is meant by the term Mach Number?
26. Explain altitude warning system.
27. Illustrate the concept of FLY BY WIRE system.

28. Name the parameters that are controlled in the longitudinal mode and the lateral mode
autopilot.
Longitudinal mode: attitude commands, speed control
Lateral mode: bank angle control, yaw control
29. How are air data systems used in an aircraft? List out the required parameters for flying.
30. Name the few disadvantages of an autopilot.
31. What are the benefits of flight management system?
32. Define the air data quantities.
33. What is the need for warning systems?
34. How to calculate the total air temperature?
35. Define Phugoid mode oscillation.
A phugoid is an aircraft motion in which the vehicle pitches up and
climbs, and then pitches down and descends, accompanied by speeding
up and slowing down as it goes "downhill" and "uphill". The phugoid
has a nearly constant angle of attack but varying pitch, caused by a
repeated exchange of airspeed and altitude.
