- Students to demonstrate their knowledge of subtracting one- and two-digit numbers using art
forms

- Designing the lesson to a lower stage where they can effectively demonstrate their ability

Resources
- Hundreds chart x 6
- Blocks
- Robot template x 8
- Subtraction board game x 4
- Dice
- Counters
- Split pins
- Pencils/glue/cut up paper
- Numbers 1-100 x 4
- White A4 paper x 6
- Scissors

Lesson
- Students to colour in their robots, cut them out and split pin them then staple or glue partially
to paper.
- Students given task cards to complete the rules. After they have finished the task cards, they
are to create 5 of their own - Cardboard used with numbers 1-100 for them to create rules
(100-19=). Robot input, rule (+5) and output
- Students to use blocks (concrete materials) or hundreds chart if need to be to work out the
answers.
- Students to decorate the background of the robots

- Students to then play subtraction board game
