MetroNet Removal Project

Lithgow

COMMUNITY NOTIFICATION NOVEMBER 2019

Transport for NSW has installed a new Digital Train Radio System (DTRS). The DTRS is improving
communications between train drivers, controllers and guards across the electrified network. The
previous analogue MetroNet Train Radio System is now being removed across the rail network.

Upcoming activities
Between 4am and 10am on Saturday 9 November, we will be removing redundant equipment and
an aerial from a station building within the rail corridor at Lithgow Station. Access into the rail corridor
will be via the rail access gates on Gas Works Lane, Lithgow.

Construction equipment
Equipment to be used includes a cherry picker, lighting tower, circular saw, work vehicles and various
hand and power tools. Transport for NSW is committed to minimising noise impacts. We switch off
equipment when it is not being used, place equipment as far away from properties as possible and
monitor our work activities to make sure noise levels are being managed effectively.
