Hey Hero! Welcome to the 5 Core Essentials to Finding a
Welcome! Profitable Product to Sell on Amazon! This is my very first
eBook EVER so bare with me! I hope you find it useful and I
hope the information in this eBook will help you jump start and
launch a profitable Amazon product! Or maybe you already
have an Amazon business and you just love learning. Whatever
works!

A little bit about myself. My name is Derrick and I’m from


San Francisco, California! (No surfs here, that’s SoCal!) Aside
from running an Amazon business, I am the owner and creative
director of an active lifestyle apparel brand, Struggle Athletics. I
have built the company to 6 figures in just 6 months. I come
from a background of branding and making shit look cool. So
yes, I know a thing or two about selling products online! But
enough about me.. this is really about you.

Let’s face it. The reason you want to start an Amazon


business is because you want to make money. You want to find
a way to replace your income at your 9-5 job. Start working at
home from your laptop. Have freedom to spend time with your
family. To do the things you want on your own terms. Maybe
you just want to make more money on the side! And let me tell
you.. that is an amazing thing! The great thing about Amazon is
you can start from anywhere around the world! Whether you’re
in the US, Canada, United Kingdom, Asia or Europe, etc! This is
your chance!

My mission is simple. To help and provide the tools


necessary to build a successful, profitable Amazon business so
you can replace your 9-5 income and free your time. With that
being said, let’s get started!

Why an Amazon business? Is it for me?

If you’re reading this and you’ve never I can go on and on.. but you get the

Finding a Profitable
Product
(What To Look For)

The absolute most important part of an Amazon business is


finding a profitable product. While this phase is the most
important, it is also the toughest. I’ll be 100% honest with you
and say that most people don’t make it past this phase on their
own, but fear not.. that is why I’m here! I have used many
different tactics to find profitable products, and if i can find them,
you can too! Amazon is growing rapidly every single day! The
products are out there and I will show you how to find them and
what to look for as well! You can make anywhere from $1000
profit a month, or $100,000 profit a month. I have a ton of friends
who are 6 and 7 figure sellers! It’s really up to you how much you
want to make!

I’ve laid it out into 5 Core Essentials so pay attention and take
notes! On to the next page!

When searching for profitable Amazon products,
reviews are the #1 thing we must look at. Why? Because
reviews help us determine if the barrier to entry is low
enough for us to enter and compete in. It doesn’t matter
if the product is doing insane amounts of sales. If the
Reviews reviews are too high, competing will be much too
difficult. So what should we look for when searching for
our product?

My criteria is very simple:

• 7 listings in the top 10 must have less than 75-100


reviews.

• No listing may have more than 1000 reviews.

If the product you’re looking at matches this criteria,


you have a perfect opportunity in your hands. But that’s
not all there is, let’s move on to the next core essential.

What’s a profitable product without sales?! If your
review criteria matches but the product isn’t making any
sales, that means there is no demand. And no demand
= no profit.

So what should you look for?:

• Minimum Revenue should be $5000 - $6000 (7 listings
Revenue out of the top 10 should be meeting this criteria)

If we want to make at least $3000 profit a month


(remember we’re replacing your 9-5 income), this would
be a great number to work with. Considering the fact
that our profit margin is around 50% after all Amazon
fees, we would want our minimum revenue to float
around those numbers. Obviously the higher the
revenue the better! But.. follow the minimum, it makes it
worth our time, trust me.

Price is a little debatable. You can sell a $50 product
and make profit or a $100 product and make profit. But
there’s a price range we definitely want to avoid:

• Our product CAN NOT be less than $20


Price Why is this? Because our profit margins would suffer.
After FBA fees, supplier fees, storage fees, and PPC
(Pay Per Click, Amazon’s advertising method) fees, we
are left with almost nothing.

We want to be sure the product you choose is worth


your time and money invested. Unless you’re getting
your products sourced for an ridiculously low price, this
wouldn’t be worth it. Stick with products over $20.

If you’re starting out and are on a minimum budget,


staying between $20-$35 is a great start!

Okay so listing quality is HUGE! Emphasis on the
HUGE! If reviews core essential checks out, sales are
great, and price is perfect, the next thing to look at is
your competitors listing quality.

What’s listing quality? I will tell you. When it comes to


Listing a product, customers look at a couple things that help
Quality them determine their purchasing decision.

• Product Images

• Key Product Features (Bullet points)

• Description

• Reviews

If your competitor has really bad images, whether it’s


blurry or it doesn’t show the product at it’s full potential,
good! If their product features don’t satisfy the
customers needs, or solve the customers problems,
great! If they don’t even have a description, even better!
If they have negative reviews, you have just won!

The great thing about selling on Amazon is there is


always room to improve. If your competition does a
crappy job with their listing, and you know with a little
effort and a sprinkle of your magic (the magic I show
you) that you make an even better listing, my friend,
pack your bags, you have earned a trip to Hawaii.

Last but not least, we must check if our product has
a patent and if it’s seasonal. Why are these two bad?
Well if you know anything about patents, you know it’s
illegal to manufacture a product with it’s exact
specifications, let alone sell it! And having a seasonal
Patents and product may not be that bad if you prepare ahead of
time, but we want a product that will last us for years
Seasonality and continue to bring us ongoing profit. Let’s get into
how you can check for these two:

To check for patents is simple. We go on Google


Patents (https://patents.google.com/) and search the
broad keyword of the specific product. Search down the
list and be sure that it isn’t patented. If you didn’t find
anything, but are a little skeptical still, talk to a patent
lawyer. If you’re confident, you can move forward!

To check for seasonality, we want to go on


Camelcamelcamel (https://camelcamelcamel.com/) and
input into the search bar the URL link to our potential
Amazon product. Scroll down, and hit sales rank. You
will be able to see if the sales are only high during the
summer and drop at fall. This means it only sells during
the hot summer season and we want to avoid it!

So, how do I find these
profitable products?

You’re probably wondering, okay great, so now I know what to


look for when searching for profitable Amazon products, but how
the heck do i use these core essentials to my advantage? Great
news. There is a software called Jungle Scout that I absolutely
love. I along thousands of other successful Amazon sellers have
used Jungle Scout to find all our products! If you haven’t heard
about it yet, or maybe you have, but haven’t pulled the trigger, you
have to now! Jungle Scout is a powerful Amazon product research
tool that allows you to extract reviews, sales volume, price,
estimated revenue and more without entering the product page.
See screenshot below at an example of us finding an extremely
profitable product that meets all our core essentials in one easy
search! Take it from me.. you’ll save a ton of time.

What’s the difference between
the Web App and the Chrome
Extension?

Let’s talk about the difference between the two and which one I
recommend you get. Jungle Scout Chrome Extension and Jungle
Scout Web App work very well together and address different
needs in the product research phase. 

Web App: Simply put, the Web App helps users find products
from a set of filters and also track those products over time for real
data gathered. For example, if you’re looking for products under
this criteria:

1. Under 75 Reviews

2. Doing AT LEAST $5000 in revenue

3. Is between $20 - $35

The Web App will search Amazon’s database and show you all
the products that fall under those particular filters. It does all the
work for you!

Chrome Extension: The Chrome Extension help users gather data


from a specific page on Amazon. For example, if you search up
“camping hammocks” on Amazon’s search bar, it will pull every
single listing and show you every single listing and their exact
sales, revenue, reviews, price, etc.

Which one should I get and
what’s the best for me?

If it were up to me, I would definitely say get them both.


However if you’re just starting, or you’re on a budget, and you
were to choose just one, the Chrome Extension of the two is the
most important. The great thing about the Chrome Extension is it
takes out all the guess work. No need to rely on intuition, with
comprehensive metrics on sales, revenue, reviews and more.

You can simply connect to the data, build a scalable research


strategy, and launch your profitable products.
