MANLILIKHA NG BAYAN
 Also known as National Living Treasures Awards
 It is conferred to a person or group of artist recognized by the government of the Philippines
for their contributions to the country’s intangible cultural.
Weaving
 Is a method of textile production in which two distinct sets of yarns or threads are interlaced
at right angle to form a fabric or cloth.

GAMABA ARTIST IN WEAVING


 Darhata Sawabi- she is a tausog textile weaver from sulu.she was hailed as an
expert in weaving colourful squares of cloth used for the pis syabit and for
adornment of the native attires,bags,and accessories as well as in teaching the art
to the younger generation.
Her work: Pis syabit

 Lang Dulay-she was a Filipino traditional weaver who was recipient of the
national living treasures award.
 She was credited with preserving her people’s tradition of weaving
t’nalak,a dyed fabric made from refined abaca fiber.

 Bulinglangit(clouds)
 Kabangis(butterfly)
 Crocodiles
 Flowers
 T’nalak
 Magdalena Gamayo- she is known as “Lola Magdalena”.and she is a
master weaver who only weaves traditional Ilocano textile but also designs
new patterns.
Her works:
 Kusikus (whirl wind)
 Marurup(milky way)
 Sinan paddak ti pusa(cat’s pawprint)
 Building on the more common
 Inuritan(geometric design)
 Sinan sabong(flowers)
 Haja Amina Appi-she is recognized as the master mat weaver among the
sama indigenous community of ungos matata.
Her works:
 Pandan Mat
 Pandan Leaves

 Salita monon-she was a Filipino textile weaver who was the one of two recipients
of the national living treasures award in 1998.she was known for her bagobo-
tagabawa textiles and was known as “last bagobo weaver”

CARVING
 Is the act of using tools to shape something from a material by scraping away portions
of that material.

GAMABA ARTIST IN CARVING


 Teofilo Garcia-is a local of abra and he is an Ilocano.he is a self-taught artist who makes
kantukong.it is an all-weather traditional headgear made of tabungaw or gourd.
His works:
 Tabungaw plant
 Gourd hatmaker
 Eduardo Mutuc-he created numerous wood carving and metal art with religious
and secular themes.he did intricate decorations for churches.

PERFORMING ARTS
 Performing arts refers to forms of art in which artist use their voices,bodies or
inanimate objects to convey artistic expression.

GAMABA ARTIST IN PERFORMING ARTS


 Alonzo Saclag – he is a traditional dancer and musician.he established the kalinga budong
dance troupe.
 Masino Intaray- A musician and a poet whose expertise were the basal, kulilal, and bagit. A
member Palawan tribe musician and epic chanter masino Intaray was a master of the basal, a
gong music ensemble played during rice cooking (tambilaw) and sharing (tinapay) rituals
which gather the community as they serve offering to Palawan rice God Ampo’t paray.
 Uwang ahadas-he is an expertise in playing the indigenous intstrument called kwintangan
kayu.
 Kwintangan kayu-an instrument composed of five wooden logs of different sizes.the
music coming from it is believed to cause bountiful harvest.
 Samaon Sulaiman- A master in playing the kutyapi, a two-stringed plucked lute. He was
also proficient in playing an instrument such as:
 Kulintang agong (a suspended gong with a wide rim)
 Gandingan (a gong with norrow rim)
 Tambol
LITERATURE
 Literature is a term used to describe written and sometimes spoken material. Derived from
the latin word literature meaning ” Writing formed with letters”

GAMABA ARTIST IN LITERATURE

 Ginaw Bilog- Was a flilipino poet who was recognize as a national living treasure by
the Philippine government. Advocate of preserving the traditional form of his tribe
called “AMBAHAN”.
 Ambahan- A kind of poem consisting of seven syllable lines whivh most of the time
contains messages of love and friendship.
 Federico Caballero- Epics of Panay-Bukidnon(Amburukay, Tikum Kadlum etc.) Epic
chanter Federico Caballero of Calinog, Iloilo was best known for his expertise in the
sugidanon.
