Public Speaking Speech Title: If I Was A Teacher

Prologue: Teachers are regarded as the strongest pillar of the society. Teaching is the mother of
all professions, teaching can change the world.

Intro: Honorable judges, respected teachers, fellow contestants, ladies and gentlemen, a very good
morning I greet you. My topic today is - If I was a teacher.

Speech: Taking the teaching profession has always been my dream. I salute all the teachers for
who they are, their commitment, sincerity and dedication to work. As we all know, teachers play
an important role in each and every one of our lives. I really believe that teachers are our second
parents. This is because teachers are always in close contact with their children when they are at a
very impressionable age.

If I was a teacher, I would be a combination of firmness and love for all my school children. I
would take good care of their studies, mould their characters and improve their behaviors. My love
for them would be ever flowing, yet, at the same time, I would not have any compromise with
those who are ill-disciplined and ill-mannered.

If I was a teacher, I would like to see my school children grow up with good personalities, with
the qualities of the head and heart. I would be for them a friend, a patron and a guide, all in one. It
would be my greatest achievement to get the love and faith of the children, a teacher who becomes
their best friend. They would love me and tell me all their problems instead of hiding them. And
sometimes I will be like an elder sister, who becomes their buddy and best companion. They will
soon realize that their elder sister has gone through many thick and thin of this life, whom they
can rely on, and whom they can share their ups and downs without any reservations.

If I was a teacher, I would never give a chance to the children to feel that I have favoritism among
them. Partiality will never have a place in my heart. I will love them regardless of their capabilities,
genders, races and social status. For I believe, that biasness will only cause bitterness and acrimony.

How can I bear to see a child who feels that he or she is not loved by their teachers? A child that
receives no love is like an abandoned orphan. If I was a teacher, the bond with my school children
would always be cemented with mutual respect and regard. The children under me would always
receive lots of encouragements from me, whether in times of good or bad.

To sum it up, I believe that a good teacher is a teacher who condescends and cares, yet on the other
hand, a good teacher also promotes good discipline in the classroom. A good teacher is not just an
educator, a good teacher inspires hope and discovers children’s potentials, so that every child has
the chance to live a holistic life. Thank you.
