Zero conditional is used when the result will always happen. The ‘if’ in this conditional can usually
be replaced by ‘when’ without changing the meaning. It is used to make statements about the real
world and often refers to general truths, such as scientific facts. In this sentences, the time is now or
always the situation is real and possible.
We can make conditional sentences with two present simple verbs; one in the ‘if clause ‘ and
one in the ‘result clause’.
Examples:
If water reaches 100 degrees, it boils. ( When water reaches 100 degrees, it boils)
If you touch the fire you get burned. ( When you touch fire you get burned)
People die if they don’t eat (People die when they don’t eat. )

The First Conditional – has the present simple after ‘ if clause’, then the future
simple in the ‘result clause’
If + present simple,…will + infinitive
Examples:
If it rains, I won’t go to the park.
If I see her, I will tell her
It is used to talk about things which might happen in the future ,this describes possible things which
could easily come true.
The first conditional describes a particular situation whereas zero conditional describes what
happens in general.
Examples:
If you sit in the sun, you get burned. (Every time a person sits in the sun – burning is a natural
consequence of the sitting) zero conditional
If you sit in the, you will get burned. (what will happen today, another day might be different) first
conditional.
