EXPECTED QUESTIONS

Q1 : What is the rationale of your study? (Aim / Objective)

The rationale of the study aims to identify the effects of participating in a musical band to the

student’s self-esteem. And to understand their lived experiences as a member of a musical band.

Q2 : Why did you conduct this research?

This was suggested by the leader, and my co researchers agreed to choose this topic and that the

researchers were interested by the experiences from these participants.

Q4 : What is your research design ?

The research design for this research is to determine whether participating in a musical band affects

the student’s self-esteem positively or negatively. And this research also seeks understanding about

the lived experiences of these grade 11 members of a musical band at Emilio Aguinaldo College

Cavite.

Q5 : What is the limitation of your topic ?

The researchers had a limited time to observe and further evaluate the students’ character

development and skills enhancement.

Q6 : How did you select your participants?

These participants were selected because the participants of this study should meet the requirement

that they should be a member of a musical band.

Q7 : What sampling technique / procedure did you use?

The researchers used a purposive sampling. The researchers used this sampling technique because the

participants of this study were handpicked to suit the specific intentions of this research

Q8 : How did you relate your theoretical framework to your study?


Based on the findings of this study, one participant shared his experience and was identified to be

competitive that built his confidence relatable to the theory of Deci EL and Ryan RM (2000) that self-

esteem was derived from the competence of an individual due to the results of disciplinary strategy

exercises from an autonomy supportive environment.

Q9 : What is the contributions of this study to the society?

The beneficiaries of this research are the students, parents, and the future researchers. Students who

haven’t joined any extracurricular activities, this research can help students improve their self-esteem.

Parents can benefit to this research because they will become aware that extracurricular activities has

a benefit to their child’s development. And to the future researchers, they will find this research useful

because they can discover whether other extracurricular activities has the same results to this research

Q10 : What is your statement of the problem?

The researchers designed these questions to answer the issue of this research. First is, what are the

effects of students joining a musical band to their self-esteem? Second is, what is the lived

experiences of a student joined in a musical band? And lastly, how does joining a musical band affect

a student inside the school?

Q11 : What are the relevant findings of your study?

The researchers found out that these participants revealed to have a positive effect of their self-esteem

due to the participation in a musical band. There were 2 major factors involved prior for these

participants in joining in a musical band, and these are the social influence and environment, however

these factors did not affect to their self-esteem. Two participants was encouraged by their families,

while one participant loves music and was fascinated in playing instruments, especially drums.
