Lesson 1 – Introduction to Kodu

Step 1: - A computer game needs:


● A character that reacts in ●
certain ways. ●
● A world in which the character ●
exists. ●
● Objects that we can interact
with.
● Rules

Pick 3 of items from the list and explain why you think that they’re important
to all games. It could be lives, characters or rules.
Step 2: - Explain
Item 1: - Characters, if there were no characters then all you would do is
watch.
Item 2: - Worlds, If there was no world then the character would not exist.
Even if it is a void.
Item 3: - Rules, if there were no rules there would be chaos and no one
would know what to do.

Step 3: - Explain why computers need precise instructions

If you give it vague instructions then it might not do what you want it to do.

Experimenting with Kodu – You now have some time to practice


programming using Kodu.
Step 5: - Add in objects such as castles.
Step 6: - Using Kodu, change the way an object looks. Make it bigger or
smaller

Step 7: - Using Kodu change an objects settings.


Step 8: - Code a character to move when the control or keyboard is used
