Highlights for the Quarter (including Ops Council)

This quarter was busy with numerous student issues upon the return from Spring Break, as
many of the kids that need support come from difficult environments. Much time was spent in
meetings and planning sessions with the Ministry, in attempts to minimize damage to the
students lives. This quarter was also filled with a large amount of professional development,
which will allow us to provide higher quality service to the students and schools.

Highlights for the Quarter (including Ops Council)

This quarter was very proactive with a great deal of positive

interaction with the students. This included coaching the
junior basketball team and organizing a tournament which
included a variety of schools throughout the region.

At the high schools, we organized ‘Sirreal’ to present at our

local secondary Schools. As an established ‘RAP’ artist, his
message of youth empowerment and believing in yourself
was very well accepted.

Hockey continued to be supported by police and continued to

be a success; allowing students at both middle and high
schools to interact with police through this sport.

Police were also involved in a new committee that has been

founded to support youth at risk. The committee, called
Youth Coalition, continues to meet and develop its strategies
on how to connect with the youth of Esquimalt.

Talks continued to be positive within the classrooms. These

talks were focused on Safety, WITS, the role of police officers
and involved talks on the Criminal Justice system.

In summary, a very positive quarter!

Highlights for the Quarter (including Ops Council)

This quarter was focused toward bike safety and ‘stranger

danger’. Working together, the School Liaison Officers taught
bike and road safety to approximately 1000 students. A great
accomplishment that spanned over a month!

The Township of Esquimalt was on alert as there were a

number of incidences of children being approached by
strangers. This led to numerous meetings on safety with the
local schools and a great deal of talks to the elementary
students in the area. These incidences are still being
investigated.

Overall it was a very busy and productive quarter. It was

extremely proactive with safety being the theme.

Highlights for the Quarter (including Ops Council)

This quarter includes the summer action plan, which was very busy, and allowed for numerous
opportunities to interact with youth while on vacation. This patrol was very well received by
the public, who seemed pleased to have police patrolling on bike in their neighbourhoods.

This quarter also included the busy start to the school year, which is extremely busy with
meetings with principals, re connecting with the kids, and outlining plans for the school year for
each individual school. This start to the year seemed to be filled with many more issues than in
past years, and issues with reintegrating into school life took the bulk of police time.
