March 2019 “Flashpoint” on JMU’s Commemorative Landscape


As part of JMU President Jonathan Alger’s Task Force on
Inclusion, facilitated faculty groups on how to address potentially
racialized and offensive statues, names of buildings, artwork, etc.
on campus.

March 2018 “Democracy in Peril” Pop-Up Dialogue


Co-designed and convened a pop-up dialogue following an event
in the speaker series “Democracy in Peril” at James Madison
University. The facilitation was part of a class project, aiming to
invite audience interaction after listening to the message given by
former Lt. Gov. of Virginia, Bill Bolling.

Feb. 2018 National Issues Forum guide:


“How Can We Get American Politics Back on Track?”
Facilitated a group of undergraduate students using the guide
provided by the National Issues Forum Institute. This facilitation
was a part of the 2018 School of Public and International Affairs
symposium at James Madison University.

Nov. 2017 Community Conversations in Challenging Times


Co-led a workshop with Dr. Rob Alexander on “First Response
Facilitation” for a facilitator training day hosted by the
Shenandoah Valley Facilitation Network.

Oct. 2017 Comprehensive Planning for Harrisonburg, VA


Facilitated a series of meetings to gain public input on a revision
to Harrisonburg, VA’s comprehensive plan, focusing on a range
of issues from economic development to environmental
sustainability.

May 2017 Community Gardens Focus Group


Aided the Harrisonburg, VA government in designing and
facilitating a focus group to gather information needed to draft
future legislation.

Feb. 2017 VIRTUES II Conference


Designed and facilitated a full-day dialogic event for 4-VA to
discuss the collaboration of industry and education in the
development of Unmanned Aerial Systems visited by the
Governor of Virginia.

Feb. 2017 Immigrant & Refugee Summit


Facilitated an event with New Bridges to gather information on
the history, organizations, and practices of advocating for
immigrants and refugees in Harrisonburg, VA.

Nov. 2016 Community and Police Relations Facilitation


Designed and facilitated a deliberative event with community
activist organizations, JMU student groups, Harrisonburg Police
Department, and James Madison University Police to answer the
question, “What can Harrisonburg do to Become a Leader in
Community and Police Relations?”

Aug. 2016 VIRTUES Conference


Facilitated an event designed to bring leaders in the Unmanned
Aerial Systems community together and discuss ways to take
advantage of the potential economic impact UAS could have in
Virginia.
