414 CENTRIFUGE

The model 414 Decanting CENTRIFUGE

has a 14.0" diameter x 34.0" long (353
mm x 860 mm) stainless steel bowl and
conveyor assembly. The variable speed
main drive is V-belt driven through a
torque converter by a 25 horsepower,
explosion-proof, electric motor. The
main drive (1,600-3,300 rpm’s) bowl speeds are easily changed with the
variable step sheave arrangement.

The differential or back drive is V-belt driven by a 7.5 horsepower, explosion-

proof, electric motor. The differential speed of the conveyor can be adjusted
from -18 to a maximum of +85 rpm’s.

The decanting centrifuge consists of a contour bowl assembly that includes

hardfacing protection in the feed zone, tungsten carbide discharge ports and
hardfaced conveyor flights. A two step planetary 3.5 knm gearbox with a 57.1:1
ratio drives the centrifuge. Additional overload protection is provided with a
resettable mechanical clutch and safety shutdown device.

The centrifuge is furnished with belt guards, gearbox covers, dual sheaves,
fittings and hoses. The centrifuge is mounted on a heavy duty skid with all
applicable surfaces grit blasted to white metal, primed with a zinc-rich epoxy
primer, painted with an intermediate coat of high solids, high build epoxy and
finished with a top coat of aliphatic polyurethane.

V. Decanter Variables
A. Pond Depth: The liquid radius in the decanter can be
changed to obtain either dry or wet solids
discard for maximum solids removal or cleaner
effluent
B. Feed Inlet: The location of the feed inlet or shooting zone
can be modified to reduce solids conveying
distance to obtain either a clean effluent or dry
solids discard
C. Bowl Speed: The bowl speed can be varied to improve
particle separation (cut point) for improved
solids removal or a cleaner effluent
D. Differential Speed: The differential speed can be regulated to
improve solids conveying capacity, to obtain a
dryer discard or eliminate possible plugging of
the decanter
E. Feed Rate: The feed rate can be modified to improve
solids removal efficiency, dryer discard, and
particle size separation
F. Dilution: The amount of dilution volume added to the
feed will reduce the viscosity and density of
the slurry to improve separation and solids
