The Province of Abra is
a landlocked one for it is
surrounded by high
mountains, hills and
green valleys. It is
located at the Northern
part of Luzon.
In the past decades,
Abra has been the place
wherein everyone was
scared of for the reason
that peace and order in
the area was difficult to
maintain. It then became
famous with the name
‘murdering capital of the
north’ because of the
rampant crimes done
most specially on
election period.
However, as years pass
by, Abra proved to the
people that change is not
impossible and change
can only be felt if there is
discipline and unity. As
the province changes its
dreadful identity, the
nature also starts to
showcase its hidden
beauty. Numerous
wonderful falls came out
such as Mulawin Falls or
popularly known as
Kaparkan Falls in Tineg,
Kili Falls of Tubo and
Pantoc Falls in San
Quintin. Those are just
some of the falls in Abra
which slowly opened its
door to foreign and local
tourists and boosted its
tourism industry.

Tagpao or Tagpew Falls
is one of the most
beautiful falls in the
province for it faces the
massive cliff and serves
as one of the highest
waterfalls in the
province. Before I
witnessed the
aesthetically stunning
beauty of nature, I
encountered a lot of
obstacles along the way.
First, traveling to Tubo
from the province proper
took me more than five-
hour long and stressing
trip. Second, after I have
reached the town, it
again took me another
day trekking the
mountainous field to be
able to reach the base
camp. And third, the
hardest setback that I
have experienced during
the trek is thinking the
best way on how to avoid
the bloodsucker insects
that are present in the
vicinity. But all of these
are just stepping stones
that lead me to the
pristine, majestic and
jaw dropping work of
nature. The pain on my
body was vanished as I
encountered personally
the famous waterfalls. I
was able to overcome
and succeed all the
challenges, I heard the
murmuring voice of the
falls and grasped the
tranquility the
surroundings are
offering.
