Oracle/Taleo Recruitment - Basic Navigation & Usability

Procedure

Oracle Taleo Recruiting is a role based system. The client can define any number and
combination of roles appropriate to support its various organisation hierarchies, divisions, brands,
populations, etc.

The user role(s) assigned to a given individual define what the user can see and do.

Step Action

1. Use your assigned user name and password to access the training environment.

Click the Sign In link: .

Step Action

2.
Clients using more than one Talent module may configure a "Welcome Centre"
or launch page from which users can easily access the different modules they deployed
and/or easy access different views within those modules via links in the Quick Access
section of the page.

The centralised content is designed by the client to present a specific message to

different user types and roles as they log in.

Click the "Recruiting" link in the banner at the top of the screen,
or click on any of the recruiting-related links in the left-hand navigation.

3.

This area is called the Centre Stage.

Step Action

The Centre Stage is another good example of role-based content. For a full-time
recruiter, it might be desirable to have all content combined together on the desktop. For
other user types, such as line managers who access the system infrequently, it might
make for sense to have a more simple view.

Regardless, when the user clicks on the link, the system will pass the necessary
information to the next view to automatically display the appropriate content.

Currently the Centre Stage view will contain no Requisitions or Candidates, as

your Training User has no vacancies assigned to them. To view your Training

Requisitions and Candidates, click the dropdown box in the top

left of the Centre Stage, and select the User Group that has been assigned to you in
training. The User’s Centre Stage should now populate with Requisitions and
Candidates, as seen below.

Click the "Open" link in the Requisition channel in the upper left-hand
section of the screen to view all open requisitions.

Section 1 - Oracle Taleo Recruiting – Basic Navigation and Usability

Step Action

By way of overview, there are two important principles that guide the user
experience throughout the recruiting module.

The first is that anywhere the user encounters a list of anything, the way that list is
presented (e.g. the sort order, the fields, displayed, etc.) is configurable both at the
system level as well as at the individual level.

The second is that anywhere a list of information is displayed, there are configurable
filters that enable the user to quickly filter the information according to any desired
combination of values

These two features drive user adoption allowing the user to define and quickly display
their desired content, reducing the number of clicks required and improving user
efficiency.

In this view the requisition list inherits the default view created by the system
administrator. To change the view or create a different list view, click on the list view

selector in the upper right hand corner of the screen.

Step Action

5.
This is the list view selector. It gives you access to alternate list views that may
have been created by the system administrator.

This also gives you the ability to define your own personal, preferred view of the
information on this page.

Click "Cancel" to return to the requisition list view.

Step Action

6.
Another important example is the ability to tailor the candidate information
displayed.

To access a candidate list associated with any requisition, the user clicks on the running
number of candidates who have applied or been matched to a requisition.

Click on the number to the left hand of any requisition title.

Step Action

7.

Here is an example of a candidate list view. Later we will explore this in more
detail, but the same principles apply in that the user can tailor the information displayed
to make them more efficient.

The second important navigation feature referenced above is that anywhere there
is a list of anything, on the left-hand side will be configurable filters that allow the user
to quickly filter the displayed data as desired.

We will discuss this in more detail later in the demonstration, but as a simple
illustration, the user clicks on the "Candidates" filter to display the available filters.

Expand the candidate filter options by clicking on the “Candidates” filter on the
left hand side of the screen.

Step Action

8.
Select the "ACE" filter by checking the box next to the ACE filter. The view
automatically contracts to display only ACE candidates.

These filters can be used in combination with one another to allow the user to slice and
dice long lists of candidates, search results or requisitions to display only those desired.
This makes managing large groups of data very simple and easy - another example of
the application's ease of use.

Un-check the filter, and the list automatically displays all candidates again.
Now let’s return to the list of requisitions.

Whenever the user desires to move back to previous view, the "Up" selector will
return the user to the previous list. In this case, the user easily navigates from the
candidate list back to the requisition list.

Locate and click on the “Up” selector in the upper right hand corner of the
screen.

9. To return to the recruiting home page, the user can click on the "Recruiting" link at any
time.

Click on the “Recruiting” link in the banner at the top of the screen.

Step Action

10.
The key concept that drives usability is the system's ability to associate tailored,
pre-scripted views to specific roles, workflows, steps, etc.

This ensures that the user has access to the appropriate information he/she needs, in
context, based on their role and in the format that will make it easy for him/her to
accomplish the various tasks associated with the user's role.

This drives user adoption and the consistent execution of tasks throughout the selection
process.

End of Procedure.
