•S&OP in the Cloud
•In constantly changing business environments, an effective S&OP process is needed more
than ever, to monitor company performance and continuously adjust operating plans to
meet business goals. Oracle S&OP Cloud offers process management and collaboration
capabilities to align your organization around a common plan.
•A modern graphical user experience with embedded analytics gives the necessary
information needed to make better decisions. S&OP Cloud enables us to quickly and
profitably develop new plans and act on these plans in response to shifting market
conditions.

•S&OP is a business process and needs to be supported by a robust software application.
Oracle S&OP Cloud is expressly designed to define and progressively orchestrate various
S&OP stages with seeded process templates. In this planning cycle overview screen, at the
top are the tabs facilitating the orchestration of the standard stages of the S&OP process
from Product Review through Executive Review, where tasks and action items can be
assigned to S&OP participants. These tabs also track stage-wise activity completion, so we
know how far the planning cycle has progressed to date. At the bottom is the Timeline View
of S&OP activities.
•Let us start begin on the monthly S&OP process by going to the Product Review tab.

•Now we are in the Product Review tab, the first stage in the S&OP process. The Planning
Activities pane shows a list of standard tasks for Product Review. The Action Items pane lists
action items coming out of the last Product Review meeting and their status. The Decision
Items tab lists a running list of recommendations to be approved, or alternatives to be
considered at the upcoming Product Review meeting and/or other stages as part of a formal
S&OP process. From here, we can go directly to where we need to complete tasks.
•Let us drill into Analyze Performance to Plan to take us to the Product Review Summary
dashboard to see how product plans are doing.

•Product Review Summary is part of the series of executive dashboards that monitor
performance across various S&OP stages culminating in Executive Review and action. Seeded
dashboards offer KPI summary graphics and charts to assess plan performance at each stage.
These are configurable to your own S&OP process.
•This dashboard shows a ribbon of KPI infotiles monitoring overall plan performance across
the product lifecycle from pre-launch planning, through post-launch performance, and to
end of life items. The bottom half shows detailed charts related to the selected KPI. In this
example, we can see that new products contribute about 63 percent of revenues.
•We move on to the Demand Review stage.

•The Demand Review Summary portrays information related to the demand forecast, which
could be coming from Planning Central or Demand Management Cloud or as an import from
your existing forecasting tool.
•The second infotile informs that the baseline operating plan in blue, is below the financial
forecast target, in green. However, there may be an opportunity to reduce this gap as the
first infotile indicates that Sales Forecast is significantly higher than the Consensus Forecast.
•The lower-left graph details how Sales Forecast, in yellow, outstrips our Consensus Forecast,
in red. The lower-right graph depicts the difference between these forecasts by product
category. The biggest gap is with SlimlineAir Tablets, a new product line, for which Sales has
new market intelligence that customer interest outstrips initial projections of anticipated
demand.

•Let us create a new plan, SOP FY2022 Increase Demand, to simulate an appropriate forecast
increase factoring in the new market intelligence. In the lower-left graph of the Demand
Review Summary of this simulated plan, the Consensus Forecast in red is now better aligned
with Sales Forecast in yellow. And from the second infotile, the operating plan in blue,
indicative of the maximum volume we could possibly sell, is now on track with our financial
target in green, like we would have desired.
•Let us move on to the Supply Review Stage.

•The Supply Review stage helps in how we can plan to fulfill the increased demand. Problem
areas are flagged in red, and guided navigation helps us to drill into the root causes and
address shortfalls. Here we see that the revenue of SlimlineAir Tablets is at higher risk during
the last quarter of the year, which needs to be addressed in the S&OP process. We also infer
from the second and third infotiles that both our work center and suppliers are overloaded.
Let us drill into the Aggregate Build Plan to learn more about these overload conditions.

•The Aggregate Build Plan shows that two suppliers, Midtown Computer Suppliers and Allied
Manufacturing, are overloaded for a critical component, CM665050, in various months, as
indicated by the amber colored values. We can easily analyze such build plans across the
supply chain, focusing on managing critical supply and resources at the category level, such
as the SlimlineAir Category, in this case.

•We also need to collaborate across the enterprise to identify and resolve issues. Oracle
S&OP Cloud service offers a robust enterprise social collaboration platform. Here we resolve
the previously identified shortage in June by working with our Procurement colleagues to
collaboratively explore for opportunities to buy additional supplier capacity to alleviate the
shortage of component CM665050, albeit at a higher price.

•We need the ability to create and view alternative what-if plans quickly. S&OP Cloud
provides rapid inline simulation capability to run plans and evaluate their impact. Here we
run our new plan with increased capacity and higher component costs.

•With the run completed for the newly simulated plan, SOP FY2022 Increase Capacity, we see
that adding overtime in our work center and securing additional vendor capacity brings the
overloading problem into a more tractable range.

•A critical part of S&OP is reconciling our operational plans with financial plans. S&OP Cloud
supports the Financial Review stage, where we can evaluate whether our new operational
plans are consistent with enterprise financial goals. Here we see that in the new plan,
revenue has increased, but at a hit to our gross margin percentage, a tradeoff we will have to
consider in the Executive Review meeting.

•Let us proceed to complete this S&OP Planning Cycle by moving to the Executive Review
stage. In the bottom right, we see decision items that have been registered to be taken up
during the Executive Review meeting.

•In the Executive Review stage, we can review all aspects of the revised operating plan and
evaluate recommendations for plan changes. S&OP Cloud compares alternative plans so that
we can select the best plan. The proposed alternative plan helps us get rid of the financial
gap, as the new operating plan meets our financial target as can be verified from the Plan vs
Forecast infotile. From the second infotile, we note that new product revenue contribution
has also improved.
•The Cost Comparison infotile shows that supply side costs have incrementally worsened, but
overall revenue and margin has improved, making the new plan a better and viable option.

proposed plan and execute it as the go forward plan.

Execution. Here we move seamlessly from S&OP cloud to see the new tactical demand and
supply plan summary in Oracle Supply Chain Planning Cloud. The stage is set to begin the
next S&OP planning cycle.
•This concludes our quick tour. We have covered key benefits available in Sales and
Operations Planning Cloud including underlying sales & operations processes together with
convenient seeded dashboards that help analytically work through exceptions, collaborate
nimbly, perform rapid inline simulations, and, compare proposed and baseline plans for
stakeholders to take best possible decisions.
