BROKEN HOURS

The normal eight (8) working hours may be broken into


variation and must be understood that the law dos not mean
straight service for such period, as long as, the total of 8
hours is accomplished within one working day

WORK IN SHIFTS

 This is commonly known as the “straight duty” for twenty


four (24) hours.
 Work beyond the regular working hours in each shift shall
be accomplished for the overtime duty
 It is scheduled within 3 shifts
* 6:00 am to 2:00 pm
* 2:00 pm to 10:0o pm ; and
* 10:00 pm to 6:00 am
Reduction of workdays

 Reduction of workdays is part of management prerogative


and is valid as long as it is within the bounds of law.
 It is a common law that an employer may reduce the
number of work hours but without putting a reduction in
pay
 One reason for reductions of work hours is due to company
losses

Part time workers

 The principle “no work, no pay, no allowance” applies to


part time workers.
 Usually part time workers only renders four (4) hours per
day or twenty (20) hours per week.
 Some examples of part time workers are those working
students who studies at day and work at night to support
their needs.
Hours of work of hospital and
clinic personnel
 Under this Employee compensation and benefits, it is
implemented to shorten the workweek of covered hospitals
personnel at the same time assure them of a full weekly
wage.
 But as per Secretary Franklin Drilon, personnels are only
entitled to a full weekly wage for seven (7) days if they
have completed the 40 hours/ 5-day work week.

Terminologies in article 83 of the labor


code
 The term “health personnel” shall include resident
physicians, nurses, nutritionists, dietitians, pharmacists,
social workers, laboratory technicians, paramedical
technicians, pyschologist, midwives, attendants and all
other hospital or clinic personnel.
 The terms “hospitals and clinics” shall mean a place
devoted pirmarily to the maintenance and operation of
facilities for the diagnosis, treatment, and care of
individuals suffering from illness, disease or other medical
and nursing care.
Bureau of medical service determins bed
capacity and population

 The bed capacity of hospitals and clinic as determined by


the Bureau of Medical Services pursuant to Republic Act
No. 4226, otherwise known as the Hospital Licensure Act,
shall prima facie be considered as the actual bed capacity of
such hospital and clinic

National statistics office (nso)


determines size population

 The size of the population of the city or municipality shall


be determined from the latest official issue by the Bureau
of the Census and Statistics now known as NSO
