W 5.5 With guidance and support from peers and adults, develop and
strengthen writing as needed by planning, revising, editing, rewriting,
or trying a new approach.
W 5.10 Write routinely over extended time frames (time for research,
reflection, and revision) and shorter time frames (a single sit ting or a
day or two) for a range of discipline-specific tasks, purposes, and
audiences.
-Have student create a poster with a picture of a telescope and label the different parts. Also have a written report about how telescopes work
using vocabulary from the lesson.
Assessment
A small 5 minute reflection time in class for students to write in their journals and reflect on the
questions such as
- I like…
- I learned…
- I now understand why…
Then have volunteer students share out in a class discussion, what they have learned and what
they wrote in their journal
