Fight Hunger in Gotham City

Gotham, N.J. – The Community Food Pantry needs help in the city-wide food drive to fully stock the pantry’s
shelves this holiday season and ensure none of our neighbors go hungry. The Gotham Fights Hungry food drive
will will collect donations from Sunday, Oct. 20 until Saturday, Oct. 26.

Donors should deliver items on Oct. 26 to 1 Harvest Road during our 10 a.m. community celebration.

All individuals and organizations are encouraged to help with Gotham Fights Hunger. Local businesses are
urged to host collection bins, donate a portion of their proceeds to the cause or provide an incentive for
customers to donate items. For more information, contact gothamfightshunger@gothamcfp.org.

Mr. Grocer has announced they will donate 2% of all sales on Oct. 20 to the Community Food Pantry. They will
also have pre-filled bags on hand throughout the week, allowing customers to make “grab and go” donations.

All six Gotham schools are supporting the Community Food Pantry by hosting a food drive. Gotham Middle
School is creating a competition to determine which homeroom can get the most donations.

Last year the food drive collected 1,500 bags of food and almost $3,000. This year the Community Food Pantry
hopes to increase those figures.

In recent years, the number of Gotham residents living in or at risk of poverty has increased. Through out the
state, 1.2 million households are unable to afford the high cost of living, according to the latest United Way of
Northern New Jersey ALICE Report. ALICE is an abbreviation for Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed.
ALICE households do not earn enough to afford necessities such as housing, food, childcare, health care, and
transportation.

The Community Food Pantry is a nonprofit organization that assists the residents of Gotham and six nearby
towns. This year Gotham Food Pantry is celebrating 30 years of fighting hunger.

Call (973) 555-1000 for more information. The Community Food Pantry is open on Tuesday and Thursday to
drop off non-perishable items.
