Homework 1. B Diphtheria

Bacteria are microorganisms that may be useful and harmful to human body. When it

enters into the mouth, it may cause an infection called Diphtheria. It is an infection that affects

the mucous membranes of the throat and nose. It is a fatal infection that can destroy the human

body.

A type of bacteria called Corynebacterium diphtheriae causes Diphtheria. It is a

pathogenic bacterium that is also known as the Klebs Loffler bacillus that is typically spread

through person-to-person contact or through contact with objects that have the bacteria on

them, such as a cup or used tissue. People may get diphtheria if he or she is around with an

infected person when they sneeze, cough, or blow their nose.

It just does not affect the throat and the nose, it may also cause severe damage to the

kidneys, nervous system, and heart of the person infected. The illness has main characteristics

such as sore throat, low fever and swollen glands in the neck. In fact, according to ABS CBN

news posted on Sep 25 2019 at 11:17 AM, an elementary student in Manila died due to

diphtheria. The 10-year-old girl later had rashes and mouth sores, and passed away on Sept. 20

after she was clinically diagnosed with diphtheria. Diphtheria primarily infects the throat and

upper airways of the person. It is an issue in the Philippines that everyone should look into. It

is a significant health problem not just in our country but in the whole world.

This kind of disease may affect all people in the whole world, it destroys the health and

may cause death. People must take care of themselves especially those who have weak immune

systems and residents of tightly packed areas for they are the most vulnerable to the disease so

getting vaccinated is the best way to prevent diphtheria.
