1.

Indian government took its first major step towards cyber security in
2013.

The govt. adopted National Cyber Security Policy, 2013 to build a strong
internet infrastructure and protect its citizens and businesses from cyber breach.

The main purpose of this policy was to develop a resilient and secure
cyberspace to prevent cyber attacks, and strengthen cyber security.

2. In 2014, a post of National Cyber Security Coordinator was created by


Prime Minister’s Office.
3. Cyber Swachhta Kendra, a flagship centre to combat cyber attacks was
launched by CERT-in 2017.
4. The government introduced various protective tools such as USB
pratirodh , Social Media analytics tool, Samvid, M-Kawach, Browser
JSGuard etc. to enhance cyber protection.
5. The Government of India has made collaborations with certain industries
like one with Cisco. CERT-in and Cisco collaborated to prevent cyber
threats and strengthen cyberspace.
6. International Collaboration also established with certain countries such as
European Union, Malaysia and the USA.
7. The National Cyber Coordination Centre (NCCC)

The government established The National Cyber Coordination Centre (NCCC)


which aimed at generating macroscopic views on Cybersecurity. The NCCC produces
“real time situational awareness” by scanning the cyberspace at metadata level.1
