Type of Educational Technology

Based on https://www.funderstanding.com/curriculum/insructional-technology-in-the-
classroom-the-basics/, instructional technology in the classroom is an innovative way to use the
computer to motivate students to learn on it. There are types technology; TELL, MALL, and CALL.
The first is Test of English Language Learning, this is touch-screen delivered language proficiency
assessment that can be used to screen, diagnose, and progress monitor language learners in
grade K-12 (Kindergarten 12). Based on Scoring TELL by William J. Bonk, TELL offers three types
of assessment for different purposes: screener, diagnostic, and progress monitor.

Next is Computer Assisted Language Learning or CALL. This is a search for and study of
applications of the computer in language teaching and learning. CALL embraces a wide range of
information and communications technology applications and approaches to teach and learning
foreign language from traditional. A combination of face to face teaching and CALL, it usually call
as blended learning.

The last is MALL or Mobile Assisted Language Learning. This type technology support
students’ language learning with the increased use of mobile technologies (cell phone, MP3, MP4
Player). Students able to access language learning materials and communicate with their teacher
and peers at anytime and anywhere.

So, there from those type of technologies, CALL, TELL, and MALL have advantages for the
students and also the teachers.
