Dear Ms. Rivera:

The Lasallian Institute for Development and Educational Research (LIDER), in collaboration
with the Br. Andrew Gonzalez FSC College of Education (BAGCED) of De La Salle University-
Manila, is pleased to announce the Call for Proposals for the 5th International Congress on
Action Research, Action Learning (ARAL 2020). With the theme, “Action Research and
Sustainable Development Goals: Education and beyond”, this three-day congress will be
held on May 7-9, 2020 at Teresa Yuchengco Auditorium, De La Salle University, 2401 Taft
Avenue, Manila, Philippines.

Action Research is a process of inquiry to put value on improvement in a community of

practice. Visualizing changes and constructs in the post development period call for a
continuous development in teaching platform through action research. With this vision in
mind, action research is a potent mechanism to achieve educational reforms, through the
changes effected based on the teachers’ own edicts. It is against this backdrop that ARAL
Congresses have been framed to improve competencies, skills, and knowledge. ARAL
Congresses serve as a venue to address a range of critically important issues and themes
relating to action research and action learning. Incidentally, the congress acronym ARAL is a
Filipino term which means lesson. ARAL Congress, therefore, intends to provide the
participants with lessons that will enable them to have:

a) a deeper appreciation of the need and importance of action research;

b) a thorough understanding of the different approaches and methodologies in
conducting action research; and
c) a continuous motivation to enhance teaching practices, programs, and procedures.

ARAL2020 will be graced by world-renowned scholars for the plenary lectures: Prof. Salleh
Hairon (University, Singapore), Prof. Raymond Girard T. Tan (De La Salle University), and Prof.
Maria Salih (Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris, Malaysia) and other esteemed researchers for
the workshops and lectures.

It is hereby our honor and pleasure to invite you and the faculty members, researchers and
students in your university — particularly those who are involved or have interest in ACTION
RESESRCH — to join us in this momentous occasion. ARAL2020 is an excellent opportunity to

present one's research, as well as to share and discuss ideas with participants that come from
various institutions of learning across the country and from our academic partners abroad.
For ARAL2020, there will be a competition for BEST PAPER and BEST IN POSTER and other
surprise awards which will be announced during the congress. A certificate of recognition
and cash prizes await the winners of the competition. Details of this can be found in our
website.
