I.)Give real life application/situations of:

a. Direct Variation
b. Inverse Variation 3 variations each
c. Joint Variation
II.)Illustrate/Present the chosen situation through:
a. Table
b. Graph bar graph
line graph
Direct Variation
1) The number of hours you work and the amount of your
paycheck.
Ans. The number of hours you work and the amount of your
paycheck.
2) The amount of weight on a spring and the distance the spring
will stretch.
Ans. The amount of weight on a spring and the distance the
spring will stretch.
3)The speed of a car and the distance traveled in a certain
amount of time.
Ans. The speed of a car and the distance traveled in a certain
amount of time.

Inverse Variation
1. The number of apps that can be stored in your phone varies
inversely to the size of the apps you will install.
Ans. The larger the application you install, lessen the number of
apps that can be stored in your phone.
2. The road space available varies inversely to the number of
vehicles on the road.
Ans. As the number of vehicles on the road increases, the road
space available decreases
3. The time needed to finish a work varies inversely to the number
of men at work.
Ans. More men at work, less time to finish the task.
Joint Variation
1.F varies jointly as x and y
Ans. F=kxy
2. Wind resistance varies jointly as an object’s surface area and
velocity. If an object traveling at 40 mile per hour with a surface
area of 25 square feet experiences a wind resistance of 225
Newtons, how fast must a car with 40 square feet of surface area
travel in order to experience a wind resistance of 270 Newtons
Ans. velocity= 30 miles per hour
3. The volume of a pyramid varies jointly as its height and the
area of its base. A pyramid with a height of 12 feet and a base
with area of 23 square feet has a volume of 92 cubic feet. Find
the volume of a pyramid with a height of 17 feet and a base with
an area of 27 square feet.
Ans. volume = 153 cubic feet
