GEN 1.3 ENTRY, TRANSIT AND DEPARTURE OF PASSENGERS AND CREW

1.3.1 Customs requirements

1.3.1.1 Incoming passenger

1. Application of dual channel (Red/Green Line) clearance operation:

Entry passengers who carry goods that should be declared are required to fill in a "Customs Declaration" form
and proceed to the "Goods to Declare Counter" (Red Line) for inspection. If there is no article to declare,
passengers can have direct passage by showing passport though the "Nothing to Declare Counter" (Green
Line) without a declaration form. (Please consult with Customs officer before clearance, if you have any
queries.)

2. Passengers bringing merchandise that are deemed to be outside th range of personal baggage must declare
and pay duty to the Cutsoms.
3. Samples of merchandise accompanying a passenger as baggage must be declared as such. A description of
the general character of the samples and their total value must be given.
4. Gold: Passengers may bring in any amount of gold, but must declare to the Customs. If the value of gold
exceeds US$ 10,000, the passenger shall obtain an import permit from the Bureau of Foreign Trade, Ministry
of Economic Affairs, before applying for the Customs clearance.
5. Foreign Currencies: Passengers may bring in any amount of foreign currencies, but must declare to the
Customs upon arrival. If not declared, the portion of foreign currencies in excess of US$ 10,000 (or its
equivalent in other foreign currency) shall be subject to confiscation
6. New Taiwan Currency: Passenger may bring in no more than NT$ 60,000 into Taiwan. If the amount is more
than the designated limit, the passenger shall apply for a permit to the Central Bank of China in advance before
arrival and submit the permit to the Customs for clearance.

1.3.1.2 Departure passengers

1. The following are designated limits of gold, foreign currencies and New Taiwan Currency within which a
passenger is allowed to carry on his/her departure from Taiwan:

a. Gold: Passengers may take out any amount of gold, but must declare to the Customs. If the value of gold
exceeds US$ 20,000, the passenger shall obtain an export permit from the Bureau of Foreign Trade,
Ministry of Economic Affairs, before applying for the Customs clearance.
b. Foreign Currencies: Total amount over US$ 10,000 (or its equivalent in other foreign currency) shall be
declared to and recorded by the Customs.
c. New Taiwan Currency: Up to NT$ 60,000 in cash. If the amount is more than the designated limit, the
passenger shall apply for a permit to the Central Bank of China in advance before departure and submit the
permit to Customs for clearance.

Note: Each passenger should register at the customs service counters in the departure hall when carring gold,
foreign currencies or New Taiwan Currency in excess of the said amount upon departure from Taiwan.

2. Copies of video (audio) compact disks, computer software, books, and records etc. reproduced without
authorization from the original sources (except for personal use) are prohibited. Offenders shall be liable to
punishment under the law.

1.3.2 Immigration requirements

1.3.2.1 Alien Passengers

1. Entry

a. A foreign passenger who:

i. Is eligible for visa exemption program must present a valid passport or travel document.
ii. Is in possession of Permanent Resident Certificate issued by the Republic of China must present a valid
passport (or travel document) and the Certificate.

iii. Is in possession of Alien Resident Certificate (ARC) and Re-entry Permit issued by the Republic of China
must present a valid passport (or travel document), the ARC and the Permit.

b. Other foreign passengers must present a valid passport (or travel document) and visa.

2. Transit
A foreign passenger who intends to transit in the international airport and connect to another flight needs not
apply for a visa.

1.3.2.2 Republic of China Nationals

1. Entry

a. Nationals with registered permanent residence in the Taiwan Area must present a valid Republic of China
passport which has ID number on it. When the passport is expired or lost, the holder should obtain an Entry
Certificate from the service branch of Immigration Office, National Police Agency, at the airport and submit
the certificate to the Passport and Visa Inspection.
b. Nationals without registered permanent residence in the Taiwan Area must present a valid Republic of China
passport and a valid Entry Permit issued by the Republic of China Government.

2. Transit

A national who intends to transit in the international airport and connect to another flight needs not apply for a
visa.

3. Departure
Nationals shall follow the immigration regulations of the destination countries and prepare the necessary travel
documents.

1.3.2.3 Crew Member

Foreign crew members of scheduled airlines may enter the Republic of China in accordance with the following
regulations:

a. Those working at foreign aircraft may, on the strength of their passports, enter the airports of the Republic of
China. They are, however, required to leave by the same aircraft, and during their stay they shall remain within
the boundaries of the airport unless they have been granted temporary stay permits by the Passport and Visa
Inspection at the airport.
b. Those granted temporary stay permits should leave by any one of their own departure aircraft within 24 hours
after their entry or by the next departure aircraft of their own airlines if no flight is available within 24 hours.
c. They should return their temporary stay permits to the Passport and Visa Inspection upon their departure.

1.3.3 Public health requirements

All entry passengers and crew members may enter the Republic of China in accordance with the following
regulations:

1. Imported fishery products, with the exception of products that are dried, canned or vacuum-packed and
properly labeled, shall be imported by cargo shipment.
2. All entry passengers have to fill out the "Symptom Declaration" in international airports.
3. If a person on board presents symptoms compatible with infectious disease, the Pilot-in-command shall report
to the public health authority at the airport of destination immediately.
