The suggestions and proposals that were incorporated as changes in the NCERT Books in 2017 were submitted around 15 years earlier by parents, teachers and educational groups. However, as per government officials, the last revision of NCERT Books was pushed through in 2017 as the introduction was New Education Policy was delayed due to several circumstances. At the same time, the old syllabus was considered to be redundant and unhelpful for the students. Therefore, the 2017 revision was introduced in NCERT Books. However, the changes introduced in 2017 were more urgent in nature, rather than comprehensive. Those changes were introduced to ensure immediate effect on the syllabus and help students out on an immediate basis. However, the changes that will be proposed now, under the aegis of New Education Policy will be more comprehensive and will have a deeper impact on the learning processes followed in schools.
Earlier the Government had received overwhelming response
after it asked suggestions from stakeholders to rationalize school education syllabus by reducing the burden of NCERT syllabus.
