1. GENERAL INFORMATION

Barangay Tawala has a total area of 891.7991 hectares. It has a distance

of 3.5 kilometers from the heart of the city/municipality.
Barangay Tawala is occupying the Southern Part of the Municipality of
Panglao, Bohol where Barangay Looc and Bil-isan are on its Northern Part,
Mindanao Sea on its Southern Part, Barangay Danao on its Western Part and
Barangay Bolod on its Eastern Part.
It is classified as urban and is a plain barangay.

4. HISTORY

Barangay Tawala is one of the ten (10) barangays under the Municipal
Government of Panglao, a Fourth Class Municipality under the Province of
Bohol.

According to our forefathers, the name Tawala was derived from the
words “Tawo Nawala” which means “Lost Man”. Historically, there was a
fisherman catching fish in the barrio’s cave where he was incidentally
disappeared. That cave was also called “Alona Cave” where a Filipino Film
entitled “Esteban” was shoot with the leading lady “Alona Alegre” partnered
with the main leading man, Fernando Poe Jr.

Based on the 2018 Commission on Election (COMELEC) records, the

barangay has 3,006 No. of registered voters. It has 16 (No.) of Precincts).

Barangay Tawala has Seven (7) Puroks. There are also sitios in this
barangay namely: Bay-iring, Pong-on, Tipolo, Cogon, Sunrise, Lower Tawala,
Upper Tawala and Tapayan.
