Jazz Investments has established a bursary fund at The University of Manitoba for students in the
Faculty of Music. The Manitoba Scholarship and Bursary Initiative has made a contribution to this
fund. The purpose of the bursary is to recognize a student who has made a significant contribution
to the jazz program at The University of Manitoba and who is also in financial need. The bursary will
be valued at a minimum of $1000. In years when the fund does not generate $1000.00, the donor
of the bursary will top-up the interest to allow for a $1000.00 award. In years when the fund
generates more than $1000.00, the full available annual income shall be offered as a bursary, rather
than a set value of $1000.00. This bursary will be offered each year to a student who:

• has made a significant contribution to the jazz program, in the Faculty of Music (as judged
by the selection committee for the award);

• is a full-time, undergraduate student enrolled in any year of the program in the Faculty of
Music;

• has achieved good academic standing in the Faculty of Music (minimum cumulative grade
point average of 2.0);

• has demonstrated financial need on the standard University of Manitoba bursary application
form.

The selection committee shall be named by the Dean of the Faculty of Music and will include the
donor of the bursary. In all cases, University representatives must compose more than 50 percent
of the selection committee.
