Maintain your Leather Sofa by 4 easy

Whenever we talk about elegance and panache in home décor, we


visualize Leather Sofas in our drawing room. Yes, Leather Sofas symbolize
style, class and opulence of home décor. In hustle, we even purchase a set,
but, maintaining these luxurious sofas is not everyone’s cup of tea. Oops,
the stain of tea, ketchup smudge, water spots and the scratches spoil the
posh vista.

Don’t worry, we are here to help you out of this mess but always
remember to test a small, inconspicuous area of the leather sofa first
before using any of these methods.

1. Stain Removal Guide


(1) Ketchup Stain
(a) Take 1 tbsp of liquid dish detergent and mix it in 2 cups of
cold water.
(b) Take Sponge, dip it in the solution and blot until the liquid is
absorbed.
(c) Now, sponge the stain with cold water and blot it dry again.
Repeat until the stain disappears.
(2) Coffee/Tea Stain
(a) Take 1 tbsp of liquid dish detergent and mix it in 2 cups of
cold water.
(b) Blot the stain spot, until the stain spot disappears.
(c) Now, sponge the stain with cold water and repeat until the
stain disappears.

2. Leather Shining Guide


(a) Take 1 tbsp white vinegar & 2 tbsp linseed or flax oil.
(b) Rub the solution on the body of sofa using a clean piece of cotton
cloth.
(c) Let the solution do its work for at least 8hours.
(d) Clean the sofa with another piece of cloth.
3. Stain and Spot Maintenance Therapy
(1) Alcohol Therapy
Make a solution of water and surgical spirit (rubbing alcohol),
which can clean a range of stains on your sofas. This mixture
removes ink stains, water spots, etc. Never use excess amount of
alcohol, as it may lead to a blotch.
(2) Lemon Therapy
Make a solution of Cream of Tartar and Lemon Juice. This solution
easily removes the stains. Apply it on the spot for at least
20minutes. Then, wipe off the area with a piece of cloth.
(3) Baking Powder/Soda Therapy
Baking Powder/Soda is the best solution for grease or oil spill
removal from leather. Rub microfiber cloth gently to remove small
scratches.

4. Miscellaneous Methods
(1) Permanent Marker stains can be removed by spraying aerosol
hairspray or eucalyptus oil on the stains. After spraying, rub the
area with a piece of clean cotton cloth.
(2) Non-acetone nail polish removers, baby wipes, and even
toothpastes can also help you get rid of stains from your leather
sofa.

5. Scratch Removal Technique


If scratch with raised edges hasn’t gone even after following the
above mentioned steps, follow the given technique.
(1) Dip a soft piece of cloth in Pure Lanolin Cream.
(2) Then, rub the cloth thru & fro on the scars.
(3) After the leather flattens, apply another layer of Lanolin Cream.
But, apply it accordingly as it excess cream may darken the colour
of the leather.
(4) Leave it to dry for 10 minutes and then clean it with microfiber
cloth.
