Sketch the following transformations of y = x 2 on the different set of axes:

i. f (x)
ii. f ( x + 1) , colour = red, Thickness = 4
iii. 4 f ( x)
iv. f (2x) colour = yellow, Thickness = 3.5

QUESTION 2 (6marks)

Sketch the y = 2 − x + 3 where − 5  x  5, − 10  y  10 by using transformation techniques.

Determine all the intercepts (if any). State the title of the graph is “Transformation graph of
function y = 2 − x + 3 “

QUESTION 3 (9marks)

Use the graph and sketch on different axes. (thickness = 4)

i. f ( x) = x 3 colour = blue
ii. g ( x) = f (x − 5) colour = green
iii. h( x) = − g ( x) colour = red
iv. i( x) = h( x) + 9 colour = purple

Hence combine all the graph on the same axes, − 10  x  10, − 10  y  15 , with legend and
title of your graph.
