Research Findings:

FROM EXPERTS
-There are certainly not enough foster homes to support the amount of foster children
-Some social workers do up to ten investigations on foster homes in a month
-Foster children are being moved constantly making their condition even more uneasy
-If it was investigated and proven that foster children are facing abuse or neglect at the foster home,
the foster children will be removed from the place
-Foster parents will not be able to adopt foster children if they have an abuse or neglect record.
-One main problem foster children face is new environments, unfamiliar people and surroundings.
-Background checks are made on all future foster parents
-As students, we could decrease abuse and neglect by reporting it to an adult if we see any signs
-We can talk to people around us to make more people aware of this problem
-If foster parents are found and proven mistreating foster children, their license may be suspended
-Some foster children lie about mistreatment causing unneeded investigation
-housing is a huge problem for aged out foster children
-funding is essential for foster care system improvement
-San Diego’s foster care system is actually well funded and many foster children are transferred
here for better services
-The root of the problem is on the biological parents or guardians
-Many foster children are in great need of love from their parents since in the end they are still a
family
-Foster children are in depression
-Many foster teenagers get pregnant in a short age.

Ideas for product/solution:
