INTRODUCTION

Throughout the 20​th century drafting tools or technical drawing tools are being used for

technical drawing and such creations requires equipment’s in order to provide proper

measurements of the drawing and this includes but is not limited to pens, rulers, compasses,

protractors and drawing utilities to improve consistency, speed and accuracy of creating standard

drawing elements and figures.

In Ancient times Egyptians are widely known to use wooden corner rulers while in

Greece evidences has been found that they use styli and metal chisels, scale rulers and triangular

rulers. Artists such as Leonardo da Vinci, Albrecht Durer, Nicolas Bion and George Adams

generally made drawing tools for themselves. Industrial production of technical drawing tools

was then discovered during the 18​th century. It was the time that the Englishman William Stanley

founded a technical manufactory in London and produced technical tools in order for drafters to

use in creating technical drawings.

Using these different kinds of technical tools it has provided Drafts persons, Engineers

and Architectures precise and smooth flow of creating technical drawings on hand. Since all

things do depreciate and wears out overtime due to usage of these equipment’s manufacturers

and users of these commonly used engineering devices have included the proper use of these

tools in order for it to lengthen its life span and in order to maintain its usability for future
technical drawing purposes.

Background Of The Study

Drafting history goes back to 2000 BC, when a fossilized plan was found showing an aerial view
of a Babylonian fortress. Ever since man has been building, erecting or fabricating, man has
conveyed technical information about the project.

Drafting has been around for a long time, allowing designers & architects to create instructions
for buildings and other structures in the past, drafting was done by hand and requiring tools.

Drafting tools were used since then not only for works but also for education. When you’re in
high school drafting is there and now in senior high. Students need to learn it first before using
this tool and by learning these they can have skills partnering tools in their hand.

In twenty first century designer uses his or her technical communication skills by applying an
international language of art and graphics to convey information. Drafting uses a strict set of
standards and rules so when a technical picture is created on the drawing board​, it can be
universally understood. A designer communicates ideas, concepts and facts pictorially so that
others can manufacture, fabricate, build or construct from these illustrations.

Technical drawing, drafting or draughting, is the act and ​discipline​ of

composing ​drawings​ that ​visually communicate​ how something functions or is constructed.

Technical drawing is essential for communicating ideas in ​industry​ and ​engineering​. To make the
drawings easier to understand, people use familiar ​symbols​, ​perspectives​, ​units of
measurement​, ​notation​ systems, visual styles, and ​page layout​. Together,
such ​conventions​ constitute a ​visual language​ and help to ensure that the drawing
is ​unambiguous​ and relatively easy to understand.

The student who is ambitious to become a draftsman must, like any other artisan, become
perfectly familiar with his tools before he may attempt to perform his work. Of course,
experience will in time​ but not that fast this should take step by step.

Drafting tools are often delicate and have many intricate and small pieces that need to be well
maintained to continue working properly. There are many kinds of tools and equipments used in
drafting. Every tools or equipments have their own special function that every student should
know.

This study aims to provide an assessment about the appropriate usage of drafting

tools/equipment of student

This study seeks to the answer the following problems.

1.how is the proper usage of drafting tools

2.the benefits to the student of proper usage of drafting tools
3.what are the different techniques you can use using drafting tools

Statement Of The Hypothesis

Drafting instrument and there uses have many different stage of kind of use, but the main reason
why it’s to hard to understand the drafting instrument it because of lock of memorization it can
be complicated to use and understand to make perfect view of planning the building and house
but in case your time was waste by over thinking to how you apply the easy use of instrument
with teaching the other know that can apply the complicated instrument, that means you can
work by yourself and this is the reason of failing grade in drafting subject.

Significance Of The Study

​This study aims to assess the HSU students of University of Makati.

We cannot have a complete beautiful artwork or outcome if we do not have an drafting

tools. But the important is how drafting tools helps us?how it effects our outcome?

Every drafting students, especially architect or engineer must have complete a drafting
tools.Even though pencil and ruler,it so very useful.There are many drafting tools, all this tools
are depends on way you use or handle it and also all of us have a perspective and technique of
how to use that tools. Using the correct drafting tools will improve the overall success of your
drafting project and save you a lot of valuable time. Drafting tools gives us efficient way and
affordable outcome.

Scope and Limitation

The research will be conducted to determine the proper use of the drafting tools for the HSU

Students of the University of Makati. The focus of the research is on how to use drafting tools in

the right or proper way. Others which weren't mentioned aren't included on the scope of the

study.
