LESSON
Introduction

One of the best ways to communicate one's thoughts is through a form of

picture or drawing. Drawings do the communication best since a picture is worth a
thousand words. It is one of the simplest and most efficient means of
communicating visual ideas. Giving all of the data required to create the things and
being accurate in that data is the main objective.

A drafter, draftsperson, or designer could be an individual who makes a

drawing (technical or expressive). A professional drafter who makes technical
drawings is in some cases called a drafting technician.

What is Technical Drawing?

Technical drawing is an act and discipline of making drawings that outwardly

impart how something capacities or is built. It is fundamental for conveying
thoughts in industry and engineering. It is the regular language of the individuals
who work in innovation. Architects, planners, originators, technologists,
professionals and specific specialists use them to speak with one another.

What is Technical Drawing used for?

Technical drawing could be a plan, rendered to scale, that's utilized to

communicate course and specifics to a group of individuals who are making
something to explain how something works or how to construct something.

Difference between Technical Drawing and Sketching or Freehand

Drawing
Technical Drawing signifies precise shape, measurements, and composition of
an object with a view to its fabrication.

 It may be a framework of realistic representation of different sorts of objects

or structures. Its purpose is to provide adequate data to encourage its design,
development, and maintenance. It is more often than not done nowadays with
the assistance of computerized media. They are ordinarily made on paper or
other sorts of flat media.

 This sort of drawing is based on descriptive geometry and uses orthogonal

projections to draw the different views of an object, plane, part, machine and
others. Several views are ordinarily represented as top view, roof, floor,
elevation, bounded and covered among others.

 Two projections of the object are required to supply valuable data around it,
in spite of the fact that this will depend on its complexity.

 The technical drawing takes after internationally approved regulations to bind

together the language used. Be that as it may, each nation has a body that
normalizes the study and approval of the rules to follow.

 It incorporates sketches, outlines, charts, electrical, mechanical, structural

and urban planning

Sketching or Freehand Drawing conveys creative drawing that pass on thought,

feeling, temperament or circumstances.

 It is about the discipline of drawing and portraying figures or unique shapes

that represent a genuine or non-existent object. It may be a form of graphic
expression.
 It has been utilized since ancient times as a language of universal
characteristic that permits the transmission of data, depictions, ideas and
feelings.
 Its purpose is aesthetic or to convey a thought or feeling.
 You can duplicate existing drawings or models to prepare observation and
motor skills whereas other artists use their imagination.

Therefore, Technical drawing may be a form of representation of objects that

takes after a set of international standards while Sketching/Freehand Drawing is
the free representation of feelings, activities and ideas.
While Sketching/Freehand Drawing could be a freehand drawing that focuses
on capturing the essence instead of going into details, drawing could be a moderate
and more careful expression that makes use of tools and uses colors as well.
Sketching is done utilizing pencils and charcoal only. Technical Drawing is done
utilizing pencils, colored pencils, pastel, markers, etc. In general, the biggest
difference between sketch and technical drawing paper is that Sketch paper is
intended for practicing, testing, and quick studies, while Technical drawing paper
is intended for finished work of art. With drawing papers regularly being heavier,
the artist is able to work on the sheet longer and refine work.

This universal language changes small from one nation to another. Unlike
spoken languages, it guarantees unequivocal understanding of the definition and
development of technical objects. This implies that two engineers who don't talk the
same language can understand most of a technical drawing, with the exemption of
explanations written in a particular dialect. There are numerous sorts of technical
drawings, including:

3D drawings (isometric, point of view)

Exploded-view 3D drawings
Complete working drawings
Detail drawings (2D orthogonal projections)

Diagrams are another form of technical drawing with looser, less widespread
measures. Technical drawing is a fundamental instrument for young individuals
learning about technology. They have to be learn the essentials through the tasks
assigned to them.
Basic Drawing Instruments and Their Uses

Drawing These are wooden, and hexagonal cylinder

Pencils which has clay called lead which is the stuff
that you see when drawing something and it
is one of the essential instruments for those
who are in line with design or drawing. The
leads are classified based on their hardness
(H) or delicateness (B).
Eraser An instrument that's utilized to clean or delete
superfluous marks or redress off-base
drawings.

Protractor A semi-circular plastic device with prints of

measures up to 180 degrees and usually
utilized to degree points.

Compass It has two movable arms: one utilized to put

the center of the circle, and the other, which
contains a lead, is utilized to form arcs or
circles.

Squares These are two triangular layouts made of

plastic which are uses to create exact points
and parallel or perpendicular lines.

French These are utilized to draw curves to discover

Curves the area of the curve that matches the shape
of the figure.

Circle A plastic material with a number of exact

Templates circles cut out which utilized to draw circles
of determinate sizes and are useful
particularly in the event that the circle is
small.
Paper Of course, you cannot draw something
without a surface to draw on, which is paper
and it comes totally different sizes.
ACTIVITIES
Activity No. 1
Let’s apply what we have learned. Accomplish the table below. Refer to the
rubric scoring below on how you will be graded.
Activity No. 2
Locate the given words in the grid. These are words encountered from the lesson,
running in possible directions; horizontally, vertically, or diagonally.
