1. Prayer
Let us all stand and pray. Amen…..

2. Greetings
Good afternoon class. Good afternoon sir.

You may take your seats. Thank you sir.

3. Review
Okay class what was our topic last meeting? Our topic last meeting
is all about converting
Very good. mm (millimeter) to cm
(centimeter) to inches
sir.

What operation did we use in converting mm (millimeter) Multiplication and

to cm (centimeter)? division sir.

Excellent.
B. Developmental Activities

1. Motivation
I have here an activity that cold guess me.
I will show you the picture you tell me the name of the
picture.
Did you understand class? Yes sir.

Drawing table

Protractor

Measurement

Sketching drawing

Wow! Excellent
You guess the correct answer.

2. Presentation
What did you observe in our activity class? We observe that the
picture in our activity is
all part in drawing sir

Very good
It is a part of a drawing.

Now I’m going to discuss the other way in drawing by

using computer and we called it CAD or Computer Aided
Design.
3. Discussion
CAD Computer Aided Design.
Computer-aided design is the use of computers to aid in
the creation, modification, analysis, or optimization of a
design. This software is used to increase the productivity
of the designer, improve the quality of design, improve
communications through documentation, and to create a
database for manufacturing.

AutoCAD is a commercial computer-aided design and

drafting software application. Developed and marketed
by Autodesk, AutoCAD was first released in December
1982 as a desktop app running on microcomputers with
internal graphics controllers.

The difference between CAD and autoCAD.

Computer-aided design (CAD) is the generic term for any
software that can create 2-D and 3-D technical drawings
whereas AutoCAD is the name of a proprietary software
of the same use created in 1982 by Autodesk, Inc.

2 Types of Computer-aided Design Systems.

A. 2D (Two-dimensional) CAD Systems – The lines,
circles, arcs and curves are created within the software. It
is down to the technical drawing skill of the user to
produce the drawing. Its greatest strength over direct to
paper technical drawing is in the making of revisions.
Whereas in a conventional hand drawn technical
drawing, if a mistake is found, or a modification is
required, a new drawing must be made.
Example:

b. 3D (Three-dimensional) CAD Systems – first produces

the geometry of the part; the technical drawing comes
from user defined views of that geometry. Any
orthographic, projected or sectioned view is created by
the software. There is no scope for error in the
production of these views.
3D CAD allows individual parts to be assembled together
to represent the final product. Buildings, aircraft, ships,
and cars are modeled, assembled, and checked in 3D
before technical drawings are released for manufacture.

Example:

2D Technical Drawings
Transformation in technology has made it possible for
most professionals to save on time while working on
projects. For example, during the early periods, technical
drafting was done manually. The difficulty of this system
made it time consuming, increasing the possibility of
delays in completing projects.

For this reason, technical drafting mechanics has been

automated and enhanced using CAD (Computer Aided
Designs) systems.

2D technical drawing allows a technical drafter to make

revisions in case of errors, which is more reliable
compared to manual drawing where the drafter will have
to redraw from scratch. Using 2D drafting increases
accuracy, speed and legibility. As the global demand for
automated drafting services increases, companies offer
such services at a considerable fee.
Examples:

Cartesian plane
A Cartesian plane (named after French mathematician
Rene Descartes, who formalized its use in mathematics)
is defined by two perpendicular number lines: the x-axis,
which is horizontal, and the y-axis, which is vertical. Using
these axes, we can describe any point in the plane using
an ordered pair of numbers.

You only have 10 minutes to finish the activity.

Are you ready class?

Timer start now.

Yes sir.
Time is up.
Let us check your activity.

5. Generalization
Let us see if you really understand the lesson.
What is CAD?

Very good.
