Introduction to Solid Mechanics Objectives The basic objective of this course is to familiarize the candidate with the basic principles, tools and applications of Solid Mechanies in Civil Engincering. ‘he emphasis has been laid more on comprehensiveness, application and use rather than mathematical rigorousness and theories. ‘he curriculum is intended, approximately, for 60 hours spread in a half yearly course. 1 Introduction (6 hours) 1.1.
