INSHALLAH!

(Sem. Juan Rafael F. Arroyo)

What would happen if we die? Is there really an afterlife? Why do we die?

Creepy questions right?

When we ponder about death we always feel anxious, and that anxiety

literally takes over our mind and body. I am always fond of reading articles about

death, I even wrote an essay about death and euthanasia. It is a topic that fascinates

me most. I hate people who are trying to avoid or ignore the inevitability of death.

Is it really creepy when we talk about death?

Death is interesting. For most people, they try to avoid talking about death,

trying to ignore the truth and being ignorant at the same time. For me, it is a topic

where you can find enlightenment. When we describe death, we always think if

black, dark, bad, and sometimes we think of it as a curse. The truth is pondering

about death leads you to enlightenment, it is literally the opposite of black, dark,

and bad. Most people try to ignore death for they think that it would not occur to

them at this juncture. They think that death would happen to them in the far future

and they ignore the truth that we all must die. We are all finite beings and our life

in this world is temporary, at any point in time all of us will eventually die. Being

aware of the so called death and having questions about it may lead us to the path

of enlightenment, with factors like religion and traditions being the guiding

principles in life.
The path towards enlightenment. When the person is very much aware of

the inevitability of death, the person may realize that he/she must live a

meaningful and holistic life. The person would consider the possibility of death in

the future and must take advantage of the present time. Do not fear death, just be

ready about it.

“Carpe diem” they say, make the most out of life, find the gist and meaning

of it, embrace it and take care of it. Death may come early, and if God wills it, then

God wills it. Shalom!
