I infinitely feel delighted by penning these lofty lines about Mr. Ahmad Mahmood, who
has been pursuing his LL.M in International Law from the Faculty of Legal Studies (FLS), South
Asian University (SAU) at New Delhi in India, for his admission to Ph.DProgramme at Kabul
University - Afghanistan. The South Asian University is an International University of Higher
Education that has been sponsored and established by the SAARC Nations under its SAARC
Charter as an Inter-Governmental-Organization which enjoys the Status of a Diplomatic Mission
under International Law and has duly been recognized by the United Nations Organization. The
concept of SAU endeavors to delve the viability of South Asian assimilation premised on a
convergence of regional coherence to achieve international tranquility, stability and prosperity.
The SAU advances South Asian-ness and regional consciousness model to spur international

multiculturalism.

Mr. Ahmad is blessed with amiable and amicable personality of serious outlook that
leaves an intelligent impression upon me. I appreciate his logical interventions, credible
participation and realistic flamboyance in the classroom. I have the high joy to teach him
Comparative Constitutional Law of SAARC Nations (CCLSAARCN), International Human
Rights Law (IHRL) in I and II Semesters and I will also teach him International Refugee Law
(IRL) in IVth Semester. I have observed him to be strongly sophisticated, regimentally regulated
and courteously well-mannered in his socio-academic obligations and institutional behaviour.
Mr. Ahmad has been participating in debates, discussions and discourses on a range of
disciplines inter-alia Contemporary International Advanced Legal Issues and he also brought
many more laurels to his vertical and horizontal mobility. Mr. Ahmad calls on me to have
ruminations on higher scholastic and legal issues in International Law, IHRL, IRL and IHL etc.
Mr. Ahmad has grown understanding of global laws that might have influenced South Asian
world.

Mr. Ahmad accomplished internships, research trainings and got published in areas dear
to his vision and mission. His research orientation is brilliantly embedded in multi-disciplinary
approaches that are germane to South Asia within the precincts of International Law. I strongly
recommend him for admission to this prestigious Programme-2017 solely dedicated to

Dear Admissions Committee,

I had the pleasure of teaching Sara in her 11th grade honors English class at Mark Twain High
School. From the first day of class, Sara impressed me with her ability to be articulate about
difficult concepts and texts, her sensitivity to the nuances within literature, and her passion for
reading, writing, and creative expression- both in and out of the classroom. Sara is a talented
literary critic and poet, and she has my highest recommendation as a student and writer.

Sara is talented at considering the subleties within literature and the purpose behind authors’
works. She produced an extraordinary year-long thesis paper on creative identity development,
in which she compared works from three different time periods and synthesized cultural and
historical perspectives to inform her analysis. When called upon to give her thesis defense in
front of her peers, Sara spoke clearly and eloquently about her conclusions and responded to
questions in a thoughtful way. Outside of the classroom, Sara is dedicated to her literary
pursuits, especially to poetry. She publishes her poetry in our school’s literary magazine, as well
as in online magazines. She is an insightful, sensitive, and deeply self-aware individual driven to
explore art, writing, and a deeper understanding of the human condition.

Throughout the year Sara was an active participant in our discussions, and she always
supported her peers. Her caring nature and personality allow her to work well with others in a
team setting, as she always respects others’ opinions even when they differ from her own. When
we held a class debate about gun laws, Sara opted to speak for the side opposite her own views.
She explained her choice as motivated by a desire to put herself in other people’s shoes, view the
issues from a new perspective, and gain a clearer sense of the issue from all angles. Throughout
the year, Sara demonstrated this openness to and empathy for the opinions, feelings, and
perspectives of others, along with shrewd powers of observation, all qualities that makes her
outstanding as a student of literature and burgeoning writer.

I am certain that Sara is going to continue to do great and creative things in her future. I highly
recommend her for admission to your undergraduate program. She is talented, caring, intuitive,
dedicated, and focused in her pursuits. Sara consistently seeks out constructive feedback so she
can improve her writing skills, which is a rare and impressive quality in a high school student.
Sara is truly a stand-out individual who will impress everyone she meets. Please feel free to
contact me if you have any questions at callmeclemens@gmail.com.

Sincerely,

Ms. Scribe

I had the pleasure of teaching Karim Khan International Environmental law and Private
International law at South Asian University. I will also have the pleasure to be his
supervisor in his Ph.D. research. From the first day of class, Karim Khan impressed me
with his frankness, simplicity and ability to understand difficult concepts and texts. He
appeared in M.Phil./Ph.D. interview at South Asian University-New Delhi, where a
committee including me, have interviewed him. Karim Khan answered all the questions
posed to him, accurately and effectively. He was able to satisfy the interview committee
that his research area is the most important area to be worked on it. He was able to be
select from ten candidates from different South Asian Countries.

Karim Khan is talented and hard working as evident from the effort he has been making
to improve his spoken language ability and to learn the subjects with a critical mindset.
He produced a very creative term paper on the Desertification Convention and its Legal
implementation in Afghanistan. In the paper he also made a comparative approach and
looked at three different countries perspective Of India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan.
When called upon to give his presentation, Karim Khan spoke clearly and eloquently
about his findings and responded to questions in a thoughtful way. Karim Khan exhibits
an excellent written style as evident from his Curriculum Vitae where he has been editor
to legal magazines. Outside of the classroom, he is proactively involved in departmental
activities including seminars, debates etc Karim Khan is a pleasant personality and get
along with others comfortably. This is significant given the fact that this university is an
establishment of SAARC and exhibits a cosmopolitan approach with students belonging
to different religion, culture and nationality. He is an insightful, sensitive, and deeply
self-aware individual who wants to explore the world as an academician and wants to
specialize in human right laws. Given the political background of Afghanistan, the
significance of the subject is huge for the country and I have seen in Ikramudddin a
deep insight into the varied dimensions of Human Right.
One of the striking feature of him is his truthfulness, he freely expresses his views and
always respects others' opinions even when they differ from his own. Karim Khan
consistently seeks out constructive feedback so he can improve his writing skills, which
is quite and impressive quality. I am certain that Karim Khan is going to continue to do
great and pursue research in his future. I wish him best and highly recommend him your
program in Human Rights.

Letter of Recommendation

Madam/Sir

This refers to Mr. ObaidKamil’s application for the Human Rights and Asia Programme at the
Seoul National University Human Rights Center.

I know Mr. Obaid as a student of the LL.M programme at the Faculty of Legal Studies, South
Asian University, New Delhi. I taught his class four papers i.e., Research Methods and Legal
Writing (co-taught), International Humanitarian Law, International Criminal Law and Law and
Justice in a Globalizing World.

Mr. Obaid has completed the LLM programme at the SAU and now enrolled in Ph.D. at South
Asian University. He is hard working and there has been a perceptible progress in his class
room and academic performance. He is keen to further develop his skills in the field of
international law. Admission in Human Rights and Asia Programme at the Seoul National
University Human Rights Center would give him an opportunity to further his understanding of
Human Rights law. I am of the view that he has the ability to develop necessary skills to
participate in the Programme.

Thus, I recommend Mr. Obaid for the Human Rights and Asia Programme at the Seoul National
University Human Rights Center (Seoul, Republic of Korea) with full scholarship to cover his
stay, travel and other related expenses.
