Good morning, esteemed faculty, distinguished guests, and my fellow students. It is my honor to
inaugurate today's seminar, ‘Navigating Legal Career Options’. As we stand at the crossroads of
our academic journey, this seminar serves as a beacon, guiding us through the diverse career
options in the legal profession. We are here to delve into the traditional and the emerging - from
the rigor of litigation and the dynamics of corporate law to the innovative realms of legal tech and
policy-making. Our aim is to unfurl the multitude of pathways that the legal field offers, providing
clarity and direction for a fulfilling legal career. Let's embark on this enlightening journey together,
exploring, learning, and shaping our future in the world of law.

It is with great pleasure that I invite our respected Principal Dr. Nilima Chandiramani to address
us today. As a guiding force behind our academic and professional growth, your insights are
invaluable to us, especially as we explore the various avenues in our legal careers. Your experience
and wisdom are sources of inspiration, and we eagerly await your thoughts on this occasion. Please

appreciation to our distinguished guest. It is my privilege to request our Principal ma’am to
felicitate our esteemed guest speaker with a token of love and respect. The insights shared today
have been invaluable, and felicitating our guest would be a befitting acknowledgment of their
contribution.

Without further ado, I request Shravani to take charge of the dias and introduce our Guest Speaker,
Prof. Himanshu Agarwal to our audience.

Prof.Himanshu, a seasoned legal professional, holds a B.A. LL.B degree from Symbiosis Law
School, Pune, followed by an LL.M. degree from SOAS, University of London, where he
distinguished himself as a Chevening scholar.
Subsequently, he pursued another LL.M. at Harvard Law School.
Currently he is serving as an Associate Professor at Jindal Global Law School, where he brings a
wealth of experience, having practiced law in various courts in New Delhi.
His involvement in capital defense work at Project 39A, National Law University, Delhi,
showcases his commitment to social justice.
At the Jindal Global Law School, Prof.Himanshu teaches a course on legal methods and criminal
psychology.
Sir's research focuses on criminal legal histories, psychology and law, and histories of punishment.
We are glad to have such a great personality as the speaker for today's event, welcome sir. Sir will
join us today via Zoom.

Thank you, sir. That was indeed very insightful. I would now like to introduce our second speaker
for the day, Prof. Preeti Pratishruti Dash.
Prof.Preeti a distinguished legal scholar, holds a B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) degree from National Law
University, Odisha and LL.M. degree from Harvard Law School. She has also completed her
M.Sc. in Criminology from the University of Oxford where she received the Chevening
Scholarship and was awarded the Roger Hood Prize in Criminology
Ma’am is currently on a sabbatical and pursuing Ph.D. from Cambridge University
Her expertise lies in criminal law and policy, focusing on the impact of the criminal justice system
on marginalized communities. Her significant contributions include empirical research on capital
sentencing in India at Project 39A, NLU Delhi, and a Summer Academic Fellowship at Harvard
Law School, exploring unintended consequences of rape law amendments.
Preeti ma’am has extensive publications, including journal articles and research reports that
showcase her dedication to addressing issues such as the death penalty, sentencing law, and sexual
offenses. Recognized for her outstanding work, she has received prestigious awards, including the
Fulbright-Nehru Master’s Scholarship.
Glad to have mam as the speaker for the day, we welcome you mam.

I would now call upon our next speaker for the day, Mr. Anshu Raj Singh.
Anshu Sir has graduated with a BA LL.B degree from Chanakya National Law University, Patna.
Post this, he joined the Human Rights Law Network as a public interest and legal aid lawyer. Here,
he provided legal representation to persons from marginalized sections of the society and litigated
on issues of public importance.
Sir has worked with Project 39A, New Delhi as a capital defense lawyer. The work involved
mitigation interviews with the convicts and their acquaintances for the sentencing hearing and
strategic litigation aimed at securing the rights of the accused.
He completed his LL.M from the University of Notre Dame in the US. Post his LL.M he worked
as a Senior Associate in the employment and commercial contracting team of the law firm BTG
Legal. Currently he is working as Legal Counsel at the Mumbai based venture capital company,
Lodha Ventures.
