ABOUT
NATIONAL LAW UNIVERSITY AND
JUDICIAL ACADEMY, ASSAM
National Law University and Judicial Academy,
Assam (NLUJAA) was established by the National
Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam Act,
2009 (Act No. XXV of 2009) as the fourteenth
National Law University, located in Guwahati, and
the first of its form in Northeast India. NLUJAA is
committed to inculcating academic excellence to
prepare leaders of law who shape the country with
their knowledge, wisdom, discovery, and creativity.
It has a mission to consistently strive to emerge as a
leader in the domain of legal education by way of
creating a forward-thinking curriculum.

CENTRE FOR ADVANCED RESEARCH ON CORPORATE LAW

The University also comprises of a number of functional research centres among which the Centre
for Advanced Research in Corporate Law (CARCL) is one such that is engaged in diverse activities in
spreading education and awareness in the corporate law sector. The Centre conducts research,
workshops, seminars and capacity building programmes for academicians, entrepreneurs, students
and other interested individuals and companies in the ever-emerging areas of Corporate law.
Apart from academic development, the Centre focuses on various other activities in the Corporate
sector, such as providing research work and consultancy services to various agencies, both national
and regional, in policy research and implementation. The Centre tries to further these programs and
work with different agencies and institutions focusing on corporate issues in the Northeast region.

A dynamic socio-legal society, with ever-growing and ever-
changing facets, generates a need for well equipped, competent
lawyers who are suited to meet new and upcoming challenges.
Prof. (Dr.) V.K. Ahuja is fully committed to reinvigorating the
dissemination of leading-edge legal knowledge and advocating
legal research in various fields. Being a well-renowned
academician and the Vice-Chancellor of NLU Assam, he has
constantly been invested in his pursuit to achieve excellence
and ameliorate as well as enhance the standard of knowledge of
those around him. He has also performed various
administrative activities at Faculty of Law, University of Delhi,
and has been a member of various Expert Committees and
Board of studies.

He was the Regional Co-ordinator for the entire North-East for

the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) for the years 2021 -
2023 and a member of the Governing Body of the Consortium of
NLUs. Prof. Ahuja is one of the Jury members of India Small and
Medium Enterprises (SME) 100 Awards 2022. In 2003, he received
Prof. (Dr.) V.K. Ahuja the first prize as an exemplary teacher in the Fifth South Asian
Teaching Session on International Humanitarian Law and
Refugee Law organized jointly by the International Committee
of the Red Cross (ICRC), United Nations High Commissioner for
Refugees (UNHCR) and National Law School of India
University, Bangalore. He is an academician in the field of
Intellectual Property Rights and International Law, who has
authored ‘Intellectual Property Rights in India’, ‘Public
International Law’ and recently, ‘Krishna and Mediation’

has embarked on an illustrious journey in the prime years of his litigation career.
As a first-generation lawyer, he firmly believes in carving out a unique reputation.
Demonstrating exceptional prowess, he has ably procured notable judgments from
the Hon'ble Apex Court, NCLAT, High Courts, and Pan-India NCLT Benches.
Currently, he serves as a trusted legal advisor to an array of Government of India
Corporations, Public Sector Banks, Companies, Start-ups, Resolution Professionals,
and Liquidators.
He also holds the position of Panel Counsel for various State-Owned PSUs and
Power Corporations. Committed to fostering and improvement of the clinical legal
education, Mr. Mishra has been instrumental in organizing various webinars,
Mr. Abhinav Mishra National Level moot court competitions and has adjudicated various national level
Advocate moot court competitions organized by different law colleges pan-India along with
Hon’ble Supreme Court delivering lectures on various topics in the field of law on national level platforms.

Ms. Nivedita Chauhan holds expertise and has worked rigorously on Real Estate,
Corporate, Commercial and Intellectual Property Laws over the years. She has
been an asset to the Chambers and has managed both legal and administrative

number of Start-Ups and advised such companies on various legal and regulatory
compliances and has also assisted in execution of various agreements. Her

 CONCEPT NOTE
The Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016 was
enacted on 28.05.2016, hails as a major economic
measure with an objective to align the Indian
insolvency law at par the international
standards. The Code envisions a consolidated
framework relating to reorganization and
insolvency resolution of corporate persons,
partnership firms and individuals in a time-
bound manner for the maximization of value of
assets of such persons/entities and to promote
entrepreneurship amongst others. The four
pillars thus have been established for the
fulfillment of the objective under the Code, which
includes, Insolvency Professionals, Information
Utilities, Adjudicating Authority, and the
Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India.
The Centre for Advanced Research in
Corporate Law (CARCL) in
collaboration with Chambers of
Abhinav Mishra (CoAM) aims to
organize this Certification Course on
Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC)
2016 providing valuable insights on the
implementation of the Code, further,
aiming to deliberate upon the effective
mechanism to combat the complexities,
grey areas, and loopholes involved
therein. The course also involves
discussions on the practical aspects
involved qua career building in

 COURSE LAYOUT
INAUGURAL CERMEONY shall be held on 14th October 2023 at 1400 Hrs to 1500 Hrs in
hybrid mode.
The course is available for students/researchers/ professionals PAN-India and is being
conducted in Hybrid Mode.

The students attending the course physically are required to report at the National Law
University & Judicial Academy, Assam at least 30 minutes prior to the scheduled session.

The course shall be broadcasted live for the participants interested in attending it
virtually and the link for the same shall be shared to the participants, a day prior to the
scheduled session, on their respective E-Mail ID(s) provided at the time of registration.

All Participants shall be encouraged to indulge in discussions with the keynote speakers
during the Technical Sessions.
The course will be concluded with a consolidated assessment/ evaluation - MCQ test
through an online form which shall be shared with the participants on their respective E-
Mail ID(s) on the scheduled date as per the course curriculum.
