The Globe Model H-1, H-2 and H-3 Alarm Check Valves are used in wet pipe fire sprinkler systems. They
primarily serve a dual purpose in that they prevent a reverse flow of water through their bodies (non-return) and
also provide for the use of a hydraulic fire alarm which is not dependent upon an electrical power supply for its
operation. Through the use of a hydraulic retard chamber a time delay is provided to eliminate potential false alarms
caused by fluctuating water supply pressures. Where constant pressure water supplies are used the retard chamber (time delay) is
not necessary. By incorporating the use of electrical pressure switches, other supplemental alarms,
annunciators etc. may also be used.
A unique feature found on the Globe 3", 4", and 6" Alarm Valves is the clapper being hinged to the handhole cover for extreme
ease of removal for inspection and service.
Globe's 3", 4", and 6" Alarm Check Valves may be installed in both vertical and horizontal positions and trim can be provided for
both variable and constant water supply pressures in either of these positions. The 8" Alarm Check Valve can be installed in the
vertical position and trim can be provided for both variable and constant water supply pressures.
The body of the Alarm Check Valve is constructed of high tensile strength cast iron having considerable ductility to reduce damage
in field handling.
All interior operating parts are machined from highly corrosive-resistant alloys, each having high strength and good
wear resistance.
Rubber parts are of selective materials which have good abrasive resistance and long life expectancy in terms of resiliency.

Globe's Model WM Water Motor Alarm is a hydraulically operated outdoor alarm for use
with fire protection systems. It can be used in conjunction with alarm check, dry pipe, deluge,
and pre-action valves to sound a local alarm. This system eliminates the need for an electrical
alarm. Globe's Model WM Water Motor Alarm sounds an alarm outside the building.
The Water Motor Alarm is suitable for mounting to any type of rigid wall and can accom-
modate a wall thickness up to 16". It is provided with a listed and approved strainer for use
in the alarm line. The Gong, Gong Mount, and Water Motor Housing are fabricated from
corrosion-resistant cast aluminium. The WM utilizes a lightweight, impeller design, which
can produce a very high decibel sound level. As water passes through the water motor, the
impeller turns and the shaft rotates. The rotating shaft drives a striker assembly, which rings
the gong, sounding a continuous alarm as long as the water flow continues.
RETARD CHAMBER
The Globe Model "H" Retarding Chamber is used with variable pressure wet sprinkler systems
where water motor alarms and/or pressure switches are used in conjunction with Globe's
Alarm Check Valves. It serves primarily as a hydraulic time delay to prevent false alarms as-
sociated with fluctuating water supply pressures. In situations where excessive water pres-
sure surges occur, the Model H Retarding Chamber is needed to collect excess water from the
Alarm Check Valve and feed water back into the main drain, before activating the alarm.
Alarm line water enters the retarding chamber through the 1/2" NPT Inlet and automatically
flows through a restricted orifice to drain. When the retarding chamber capacity is reached
water then flows through the Outlet to the water motor alarm and/or electric alarm switch.

CHECK VALVES
Globe Model RCV Swing Check Valves feature a swing type clapper designed for use in fire
sprinkler or other types of water piping systems that incorporate grooved connecting pipe
ends. They are effectively used when it is necessary to permit water flow in one direction
only, preventing flow in the reverse direction (non-return). Because the RCV incorporates a
spring-loaded clapper assembly, it may be installed in either the vertical position (upward
flow only) or horizontal position (hinge pin to the top).
Most commonly, it is used with various configurations of fire department connections for
fire sprinkler systems, by-pass connections, gravity pressure tank and, pump discharge in
connections from public water supplies to automatic sprinkler systems, etc.
As an alternative to using an alarm check valve with a wet sprinkler system, an RCV Swing
Check Valve may be used in a "Shotgun" arrangement whereby the valve is trimmed in a
similar manner but utilizes an electric water flow switch and alarm bell instead of a water
motor gong for fire notification.

The Globe Model G-3 Dry Pipe Valves are the vital control unit in dry pipe automatic sprinkler systems, where supervisory air under
pressure is used to prevent freezing that would certainly occur with ordinary wet pipe systems. The Dry Pipe Valve is the connecting
link between the source of water supply and the automatic sprinklers, and must react promptly when it receives a signal from the
protected area that a fire condition has developed and water is therefore quickly needed. This signal is generated by the opening of
one or more sprinklers which causes a quick drop in system supervisory air pressure resulting in a loss of the differential ratio.
The single clapper assembly design in the Globe Model G-3 Dry Pipe Valves, provides several areas exposed to working pressures
which, in combination, create a differential force ratio between system air pressure and water supply pressure. A single-latching lever
is provided as a means of holding the clapper in "set" position.
Once the valve has operated, a special latch holds the clapper open until manually reset by experienced personnel. The body of the
Dry Pipe Valve is constructed of high tensile strength cast iron having considerable ductility to reduce damage in field handling.
All interior operating parts are machined from highly corrosive resistant copper alloys, each having high strength and good
wear resistance.
Rubber parts are of selective materials which have good abrasive resistance and long life expectancy in terms of resiliency.

Globe Fire Sprinkler Corporation Model C Accelerator and Anti-Flooding Device are designed to be used in conjunction with dry
pipe valves in dry pipe systems. The Model C Accelerator is used to reduce the time lag normally associated with the opening of a
dry pipe valve after one or more system sprinklers have operated, resulting in faster water discharge from the opened sprinkler(s).
The Model C Anti-Flooding Device is used to help ensure the proper operation of the accelerator by preventing most waterborne
foreign objects from entering the accelerator.
Globe Dry Pipe Valves, Accelerators, and Anti-Flooding Devices are designed and manufactured to the standards and/or require-
ments of cULus, FM Approvals and the City of New York Department of Buildings, and they conform to the design/usage
requirements of NFPA 25.
The Globe Model H Air Maintenance Device is used to control supervisory air pressure from the air (or nitrogen) compressor in a
dry pipe system, preaction system, dry pilot line preaction system, or dry pilot line deluge system.

BUTTERFLY VALVES
The Globe butterfly valve should be connected to the piping system with approved couplings or flange adapters. Flow may be from
either direction, and the valve may be positioned in any direction. Globe butterfly valves have been designed with a slow close
hand wheel operator, which effectively minimizes water hammer. These valves feature minimum flow restriction and pressure
loss when in the fully open position.
Conduit and electrical connections to the optional tamper switch must be in accordance with National Electrical Code (NFPA 72)
and requirements of the local authority having jurisdiction.

the valve stem. The switch will change position within two (2) full turns of the hand wheel from the fully open position.
